Rasi v/s Divisionals

This is a write up by PVR, since most are engaged in discussion between Rasi &

Divisionals I found this in my old storage though I might not have grasped it

in entirety. I hope this helps some of us and Shri PVR doesn't mind me posting

this

Rasi chart shows everything at the physical level. The 10th house in it shows

the physical activities of a native.

 

Divisional charts throw light on the environment in which a native operates.

Dasamsa (D-10), for eample, shows the environment in which one's activities

take place. I have the chart of a software engineer for eample. In his D-10,

Mercury and Mars are strongly present in the 2nd house of resources (Gemini,

Mercury's own sign!) and have an argala on the 10th house. The resources (2nd

house) for his activities are his knowledge (Mercury) and his enterprise

(Mars). They have an argala on 10th (Aq) and aspect 10th lord (Saturn in Sg).

All these factors make him a software engineer.

 

However, whether he is writing software or designing hardware or a building a

house or growing potatos etc are all factors relating to the environment under

which he performs his actions. The same phjysical work can be used for growing

potatos or growing tomatoes. The 10th in rasi chart shows the physical work and

the environment related to that work is clear from D-10 alone.

 

When we talk about the PHYSICAL ACTIONS one performs, it is at a simpler level.

Whether one is growing potatos or growing tomatos or growing spinach, one is

doing similar physical work. Whether one is writing software for a web

application or designing hardware for a multi-million gate chip, one is engaged

in similar physical activity - sit in front of a computer and type something in

an abstract language.

 

In the above example of a software eng9ineer, the 10th house of rasi chart is

lorded by Moon, who joins Mars in the 3rd house in Sg. It shows that the

physical activity he engages in requires initiative (3rd and Mars) and

interaction with others (7th lord Mars and Moon). Mars can also show typing.

Saturn in the 9th house aspects Moon and Mars in 3rd. This shows that his

physical activity may be performed abroad.

 

Thus rasi chart shows the physical activity, while dasamsa chart shows the

environmental details that fill us in on various aspects of that activity.

 

We'll learn more on this as time passes, but bear this in mind:

 

"Rasi chart shows various things happening at the physical level. For example,

the 10th house in rasi chart shows the physical actions. OTOH, the divisional

charts throw light on the environments, from the angles of various aspects of

life, under which the physical existence takes place."

In my rasi chart, Leo is the 12th house of giving. Its lord Sun is in the 7th

house of interactions, with A9. A9 shows the physical manifestation of my

dharma. As a teacher, my dharma is to give. As the lord of the 12th house in

the 7th house of interactions in A9, Sun makes me give knowledge freely. Pi and

Le periods show it particularly. So, during a Leo deha-antardasa of 25 minutes,

I am engaged in a physical action (Sun aspects 10th), which makes me interact,

give and fulfill dharma.

 

What am I giving? Is it knowledge or money or happiness to my father or

something else? If it is knowledge, what kind of knowledge is it? Is it math or

physical or programming or astrology? All those further details are environment

based. Rasi chart only shows the physical activity. It does not show those

environments clearly. For that, refer various divisional charts!

 

Now, let us go to the Narayana dasa of D-24.

In my D-24, Cn is the 3rd house of communication. The lord Moon is in the 2nd

house of Jyotisha (in a quadrant from Jupiter in Pisces). For this reason, this

deha-antardasa can make me engage in communication of astrological knowledge.

Moreover, A7 in Cn shows something related to the people I normally associate

with in the matter of knowledge (you guys).

 

Thus, rasi chart only shows that I am giving, interacting and following my duty.

It only shows about what is happening physically. It is D-24, which shows that

the [intellectual] environment behind this. In other words, it is D-24 which

shows what kind of dharma I am physically following and what kind of things I

am giving.

 

This is not an easy concept to understand. It is very subtle. Don't be

disheartened if you are still confused. As you read more and THINK MORE, you

will finally understand it better.
