Guest guest
Dear Gurus and Jyotishas, I may have asked this before: Does Charakaraka replacement occur using the CURRENT Charakarakas or the Charakarakas at the time of birth? For e.g. in my case, I have Venus AK, Mars AmK and Mercury BK in the same degree. It has been said that at the "natural age" (whatever that is) of the planet, it steps aside and the next lower charakaraka takes over. So say my Venus is the first to step aside i.e. its natural age comes first. Then Mars becomes AK, because it is the CURRENT AmK. However, take another situation - say Mars is the first to step aside (i.e. before Venus), then Mercury would become AmK instead of Mars. So now Mercury is the CURRENT AmK. Now, when Venus steps aside as AK, Mercury should become AK. Is this correct i.e. the natal chart BK taking over as the AK? Does anyone understand my quandary? Is it possible for a Charakaraka to step up the ladder more than one time, or is it all determined once and for all using the natal chart? Thank you very much and I hope the question is clear.. Guest guest
Dear Sundeep, Chara karaka replacement brings big changes in some areas of life. The exact timing of when the change occurs is not easy at all. Natural ages based on Naisargika dasa work sometimes but not necessarily always. Some more work is needed. If Venus is AK, Mars is AmK and Mercury is BK, but all of them are in the same degree, then the first "chara kaaraka lopa" (replacement) is that of Venus. Venus disappears from the chara karaka list and Mars becomes AK. Mercury becomes AmK and sthira karaka takes over from Mercury as chara BK too. This happens irrespective of whose natural year comes first. Then, at a later point of time, Mars also disappears from the chara karaka list and Mercury becomes the final AK. Sthira karaka replaced Mercury as AmK. In short, a chara karaka can step up the ladder more than once. In the case of well-known astrologer Sri K.N. Rao (see his books for his birthdata), four planets took their turn as chara atma karaka (AK)! First it was Sun (in 5th from swamsa). Then it was Jupiter (in 11th from swamsa). Then Saturn became AK (he is in 8th from swamsa). Finally, Mars became (or will become) AK (swamsa and Ketu are in 12th from this planet in navamsa!). This brought or will bring a highly spiritual phase in his life. Guest guest
Dear Sundeep, Chara karaka replacement occurs with the main one being the one with highest minutes etc., degrees being equal. Read BPHS and the concept shall be clear. The place made vacant is filled in by Sthira Chara karaka and not one next in order, unless it too has identical degrees, only minutes/seconds being lesser. In case of Natal horoscope one uses 8 Chara karaka scheme whereas in the case of inanimate objects or events one uses 7 Chara karaka scheme.
