Aspects to Fixed Stars in the Natal Chart of Shankarcharya

 

Sun conjunct Procyon 0°06'Procyon, in Canis Minor (The Small Dog), means "rising

before the dog" - that is, before Sirius. It is associated with being hasty and

single-minded but also strong-willed and capable of putting thoughts and plans

into action. Changeable and unpredictable, Procyon can take people to great

heights and bring them crashing down.

 

Venus conjunct Alioth 0°56'Alioth, in Ursa Major, is "the tail of the Great

Bear." With malefic planets, it can indicate bad fortunes within the family or

the career, or disappointments caused by friends. Can be revengeful when

provoked.

 

Mars conjunct Arcturus 0°52'Arcturus, in Bootes (The Herdsman), has been called

the "Watcher of the Bear", being near Ursa Major. Arcturus is associated with

fame and honours. Indicates a go-getting and pioneering spirit with the urge

to live a full and active life. If afflicted, good fortune can be reversed and

losses are possible through litigation.

 

Jupiter conjunct Zuben Elegenubi 0°41'Zuben Elgenubi, (also called South Kiffa,

and The Southern Scales) is in Libra (The Scales), and is "the southern claw of

the scorpion." A malevolent star, it is associated with misfortune, treachery

and sickness.

 

Pluto conjunct Procyon 0°43'Procyon, in Canis Minor (The Small Dog), means

"rising before the dog" - that is, before Sirius. It is associated with being

Ascendant conjunct Altair 0°21'Altair, from the Arabic word for the

constellation of Aquila (the eagle), is the brightest star in Aquila. Altair is

associated with excessive ambition. With benefics, Altair is credited with

bestowing hardiness, courage and generosity, especially if on the Ascendant.

With the Mc and in good aspect, Altair promises rise in life and high honours.

Connected to the malefics, Altair can bring danger from venomous creatures.

 

Midheaven conjunct Mimosa 0°59'Mimosa, is one of the four bright stars in Crux,

The Southern Cross. Like Acrux and Gacrux this is one of the principal stars of

The Southern Cross and consequently was not known to the ancients. It may have

similar qualities to Acrux of an interest in spiritual and metaphysical study.
