I didn't know that lordship of malefics will also suffer!! In this case along with UL lordship of mars , Sat is also the seventh lord ,both are aspecting Mer (I think you are meaning the same) and mars is badhakesh also!! Now regarding Jup hint I think you might have use D9 (Also in Rasi Jup is with Ketu and placed in 6th from UL) In navmasa badhakesh Guru in badhaka sthana (7th lord ) 7th H and aspect of Rahu(6th lord) and mars(8th lord) on it have give this?? If my logic is wrong pls give some more hints to understand it. Reason being that the suffering of the curse, will hit the houses lorded by those malefics. Here Mars lords Upapada. You will see that curse of uncle is working in the chart. But your right that Upapada is otherwise strong and hence they attempted to marry. Reasons as to why the spouse died can be seen from Jupiter.
