Guest guest
Namaste friends, We saw several Kalachakra dasa alternatives in the last few weeks. For finding antardasas, we saw three approaches: (1) Take the same 9 signs in the dasa cycle, use it as the antardasa cycle and start from dasa sign. (Raman Suprajarama) (2) Take the dasa sign and treat it as Moon's amsa and find the associated dasa cycle. Treat it as the antardasa cycle. (Ramanarayanan) (3) Take the nakshatra pada corresponding to the dasa sign and treat it as Moon's nakshatra pada. Find the associated dasa cycle (based on savya/apasavya nature of the new nakshatra). Treat it as the antardasa cycle. (Raghavacharya/Narasimha) We have also seen two different approaches for finding mahadasas: (1) Apply the dasa sesham to the entire paramayush (dasa cycle). (My old approach, Manish Pandit, Santhanam, KN Rao's "Rewari Pundit") (2) Apply the dasa sesham to the first dasa of the dasa cycle. (Raman Suprajaraman, Ramanarayanan, what I shared recently) * * * However, there is a third approach for finding maha dasas that was taught by Sriman Tirumala Samudrala Venkata Raghavacharya. This approach is very simple and strictly follows Shiva's teaching. Shiva said: "janmarkshe chandra lagne vaa prasna kaale yadanshakah tadaadi nava paryantam aayushyam parikalpyataam" This means that the life span includes nine signs starting from the amsa of Moon. Sri Raghavacharya interprets it to mean that 9 signs from the navamsa of lagna/Moon give the nine dasas in one's life! For him, all the paramayushes, dasa cycles etc given later for various nakshatra padas are for finding the antardasa cycles and not for dasa cycles!!! He uses the above verses to define dasas. Period. Only antardasas are an issue for him. Just as Vimsottari dasa is a progression of nakshatra, Kalachakra dasa is a progression of navamsa for him. Antardasas are further divisions of navamsas (that is why we find the 9 amsas within each sign to find the [antar]dasa cycles!). Suppose Moon is in Satabhishak 3rd pada. That means Cp navamsa (using Shiva's definition of Kalachakra navamsa). So dasas go as (1) Cp - Sata 3, (2) Sg - Sata 4, (3) Ar - PBha 1 (4) Ta - PBha 2, (5) Ge - PBha 3, (6) Cn - PBha 4, (7) Le - UBha 1, (8) Vi - UBha 2, (9) Li - UBha 3. Now, to find antardasas in each dasa, he uses the standard dasa cycle tables people use to find dasas from Moon's nakshatra pada. That table, to him, is meant for finding antardasas only, because it is based on dividing navamsas into 9 further divisions each (Kalachakra nava-navamsa). * * * This approach breaks out of a lot of shackles and follows Shiva's teachings most strictly. It is very elegant. It answers questions like why we need to find amsas within amsas. If we do it for antardasas, then it makes perfect sense. Mahadasas being progressed from Moon's navamsa directly and antardasas being based on further divisions of navamsas makes perfect sense. For all you know, Sri Raghavacharya's approach may be right. I am so used to the concept of dasa cycles of nakshatra padas that I could not easily accept simple progression of Moon's navamsa for dasas. It is a mental block. I only adopted Sri Raghavacharya's approach for antardasas, but not for mahadasas. I may be wrong. * * * For those who want to check calculations, I will give one example. In Swami Jayendra saraswati's chart, lagna has more planets in kendras than Moon. So let us find Kalachakra dasa from lagna, using Sri Raghavacharya's approach in both mahadasas and antardasas. Here are the calculations: Kalachakra Dasa (Lagna, Savya group, Paramayush = 100 years): Maha Dasas: Pi (USha4): 1932-12-22 - 1942-12-22 Sc (Srav1): 1942-12-22 - 1949-12-22 Li (Srav2): 1949-12-22 - 1965-12-22 Vi (Srav3): 1965-12-22 - 1974-12-22 Cn (Srav4): 1974-12-22 - 1995-12-23 Le (Dhan1): 1995-12-23 - 2000-12-22 Ge (Dhan2): 2000-12-22 - 2009-12-22 <<<< Ta (Dhan3): 2009-12-22 - 2025-12-23 Ar (Dhan4): 2025-12-23 - 2032-12-22 Kalachakra Dasa (Lagna, Savya group, Paramayush = 100 years): Ge (Dhan2) MD: 2000-12-22 - 2009-12-22 Antardasas in this MD: Ge (Puna3): 2000-12-22 - 2001-12-14 Ta (Puna2): 2001-12-14 - 2003-09-10 Ar (Puna1): 2003-09-10 - 2004-06-10 Sg (Ardr4): 2004-06-10 - 2005-07-12 <<<< Cp (Ardr3): 2005-07-12 - 2005-12-18 Aq (Ardr2): 2005-12-18 - 2006-05-24 Pi (Ardr1): 2006-05-24 - 2007-06-25 Ar (Mrig4): 2007-06-25 - 2008-03-26 Ta (Mrig3): 2008-03-26 - 2009-12-22 May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha
