Guest guest
Namaste, My son has a great talent for Carnatic Music (Classical Music of South India)and has been performing for the past few years live concerts some of which have even received critical acclaim in the local newpapers. He is also in the Final year of his Engineering (Electronics) course and is doing very well in his studies. I thought of using my fledgling knowlege of Jyotisha to advise him on his career moves but the complications presented by his chart were more than what I could handle myself. His birth details are - DOB 18th May, 1983 at 12.28 pm (afternoon) in Madurai,India - 78E10,9N58. 1. Leo is the Lagna in his Rasi chart and Jupiter, Saturn and mercury are retrogade. Of the 3, Saturn in the 3rd house Libra is exalted. Among other things 3rd house signifies artistic capabilities and throat. But how does a malefic which is retrogade and exalted behave - as a malefic or as a benefic? 2. Venus, the lord of the 3rd House, is also the lord of the 10th. Venus is a significator for artistic pursuits and in this chart the dispositor of Saturn who is in the 3rd. Venus is in the 11th and his Dasa is due to start in about 4 years. Does all this mean a career in Music? 3. But Rahu and Venus are together in the 11th house Gemini. Some even consider Gemini to be the exaltation sign of Rahu. So does Rahu weaken Venus and nullify his promise or strengthen him? 4. Lord of the 11th Mercury is again retrogade and in the very good 9th house.Does this add to the strength of Venus? 5. Sun and Mars are in the 10th house. Mars is combust and sun is the lord of the ascendant. This combination seems to indicate a career in Engineering. 6. Currently he is running Ketu dasa for the next 4 years. Ketu is in Sagittarius where he is exalted according to some. Jupiter the dispositor of Ketu is retrogade in the 4th house, fully aspecting the 10th. Jupiter is also vargottama. Does he favour Engineering (Sun & Mars) or Music (Venus)? 7. And last but not the least, Moon, Lord of the 12th is in his own house cancer and is aspected by a retrograde Jupiter from the 4th house. This seems to indicate something even spiritual. And because of the aspect of Jupiter to the exalted Moon, both Ketu dasa and Venus dasa should be able to deliver on the promise of the Moon. As you can see, I am plainly lost.I will be only too happy to provide whatever further information that may be required. May I request your help. Many thanks and regards, Venkat
Guest guest
Dear Sh Venkatraman, You have given a good astrological account. Your son is born with great luck and talent both, particularly so if TOB is correct upto +/- 2 minutes. Please describe the source of TOB. Give original time if it is the rectified one ? I take exaltation of Rahu and Ketu in Taurus and Scorpio respectively. Your son has good rajayoga. His means of living should come from Engg. only. But, Venus dasa hold extraordinary promise for artistic performance too. Only obstacle is that Venus is in the 8th from Karakamsa Lagna. Exalted Saturn may give some unconventional / unorthodox touch to his performance. Try to see it in your horoscope too. Praveen Kumar (Mumbai) - S.
