Guest guest
Dear Sunil, You are correct in your statements about 'oil bath'. In South India, til oil is known as gingelly seed oil also. I used to have oilbath every Saturday whenever possible. I have not heard of it as a remedy for the negative effects of Sani but maybe the learned members can comment on this. My experience is that it is good for the hair and sort of helps to calm the nervous system (note that Sani rules majju dhatu or nerves) as well as maintain the skin tone. My Biology teacher, who was a Muslim, used to regularly preach about the benefits of taking an oil bath and his whack was something to be dreaded by all of us students, especially as he was very well built and muscular! Hope this helps. regards HariSunil John <jjnet2000_in > wrote: Dear Learned members, I read recently somewhere that one very good remedy for Sani's sadesati and maleficiance is having oil bath on Saturday, it mentioned that it is a normal custom in south indian families. There are many south indians on this list, 1. can anyone verify the correctness of the above statement and add anything extra to it. 2. If we have to take oil bath, should it be in til oil (til in hindi, i think in english it is sesame pls correct me here) or would any oil do. 3. Has anyone followed this remedy and what has been one's experience. If this remedy is valid then I feel it would be an easier remedy for those who are unable to recite mantras. Would be obliged, Sunil John Y! Messenger - Communicate in real time. Download now. Archives: vedic astrologyGroup info: vedic astrology/info.htmlTo UNSUBSCRIBE: Blank mail to vedic astrology-....... Guest guest
Dear Hari, Good explanation to Sunil's query. I am given to understand that offering oil to Lord Hanuman on Saturday helps to remove the evil effect of Shani. Though there is mythology to support why Hanuman is prayed on Saturday, could offering oil to Hanuman (and not oil bath to oneself) be astrologically co-related as a reply to Sunil's query on removing the ill-effect of shani's sadesati? Guest guest
Dear Sunil, Namaste, I do not know whether the following is relevant or not, but just in case; some notes; - I have seen in Delhi in the Shani Mandir, people offering Mustard Oil to Lord Shani, e.g. in the form of simple oil lamp. I go there myself when I visit Delhi, the experience is powerful, long ques forming on Saturdays. - I am not 100% sure, can not remember exactly, but I guess the Hanuman Temple is next to the Shani Temple there, this may be beyond simple coincidence. - Oil massage, not oil bath, is a very basic thing in Ayur-Ved called Abhyanga, it is best done with Sesame oil, or one can use other oils like olive oil or Coconut oil if Sesame oil creates alergies. It is very good to sooth the nervous system and rejuvenate the body. It is simple to do, one can do it by oneself and I beleive requires less oil than a bath. - As you well know, there are other and easy to apply remedies for Lord Shani, it looks the oil bath could be tedious. Also one can strenghten areas of the horoscope that are affected during Shani's SadeSati. - Also if one does things in the way Shani likes, e.g. to be simple, humble, honest, disciplined, patient, enduring, express the truth as it is, much as an ascetic or Saddhu is etc., then probably Shani Deva looks down and sees the person in the way He likes, and does not create much problems to correct and guide him towards His goals and preferences. My thinking is that the Grahas and Devas are not there to punish us, but to guide us towards the better. If one makes up his mind, and openly expresses and displays the correct behaviour, then I beleive the Divine does not see much reason to punish us. Of course there may be some bad karma that has been in the past, and it may be that the karma is returning, but the law of karma is for the evolution of man, so if the person is already doing efforts in the correct direction, then probably the returning karma does not hurt as much as there is not mcuh need left for that. Just some humble thoughts and observations. Best Wishes, Sabri. vedic astrology, Sunil John <jjnet2000_in> wrote: > Dear Learned members, > I read recently somewhere that one very good remedy for Sani's sadesati and maleficiance is having oil bath on Saturday, it mentioned that it is a normal custom in south indian families. > > There are many south indians on this list, > 1. can anyone verify the correctness of the above statement and add anything extra to it. > 2.
