Guest guest
Dear Honourable Members, I have a relatively beginner's question concerning timing the major effects of the dashas of the Vimshottari dasha scheme. The quoted passage from BPHS is clear regarding the use of a Graha's Drekkana position in a sign in the timing of its effects. My question is this: would it makes sense to extrapolate from this and use a finer calculation of the distance the graha had traversed in its natal rashi to determine when the graha's dasha would bestow effects, to the week or day? How about for the bukti? For instance, I am currently running the mahadasha of Rahu. Rahu is in my ascendant in Scorpio at approx. 11 degrees. I believe that would place it in the 2nd or middle drekkana. If that is true, Rahu would give effects most intensely in the middle portion of his mahadasha, the middle 6 years probably. If that is all true -- and please correct me if I am misleading myself – then would it make sense to subtract the degrees of Rahu's position from 30, since its natural movement is retrograde, and then proportionally "map" this fraction to the duration of mahadasha, 18 years or so, to arrive at a certain span of days when the effects would be most likely to manifest? Please excuse if this question is redundant for the list, and if so please direct me to the relevant post. I very appreciate this resource and your attention to my question. My birth data is 2/27/1975 2:57am (daylight savings time in effect) Livingston, NJ USA St. Barnabas Hospital 74W18 40N45 Respectfully, David Engisch Ch. 47. Effects of Dashas 1. Maitreya said. O Maharishi Parashar! You have told me about the different kinds of Dashas. Now be kind enough to enlighten me with the effects of Dashas. 2. Maharishi Parashar replied. O Brahmin! There are two kinds of effects of Dashas: general and distinctive. The natural characteristics of the Grahas cause the general effects and the distinctive effects are realized by their placements etc. 3-4. The effects of the Dashas of the Grahas are in accordance with their strength. The effects of a Grah in the first Dreshkan are realized at the commencement of the Dasha. The Grah in the second Dreshkan makes its effects felt in the middle of the Dasha. The effects of the Grah in the third Dreshkan are experienced at the end of the Dasha. If the Grah is retrograde, these effects would be in the reverse order. The Dasha effects of Rahu and Ketu, who are always retrograde, will always be realized in the reverse order. Guest guest
To understand the interpretation of vinshottari dasha, no book can be as helpful as Laghu Parasari (& Madhya Parasari). These are solely dedicated to the Vinshottari dasha. You can download the text from Gauranga's webpage: http://www.brihaspati.net/laghu_parashari.htmhttp://www.brihaspati.net/madhya_parashari.htm Your question is, should we subtract degrees of Rahu from 30 to attain a point when the effect of dasha may manifest, instead of using D3 as per BPHS? First of all the sloka you quoted says occupation of of a planet in 1st, 2nd or 3rd drekkan, not about precise degrees. So if a planet, even Rahu is either on 1 degree or 9.9999 degrees they fall into first drekkan. And its 'full effect' can be felt during the entire first phase of the dasha. Some says the 1st phase means 3 starting antar dashas in a maha dasha, 2nd phase means duration elapsed 4,5,6 antar dashas and so forth. Finding precise position does not fit here, as D3 reveals nature of planets. Although for research purpose it may performed. Apart from looking drekkan and Sirsodaya/Pristodaya or D3, the Sambandha(5 types of planetary association) between maha dasa and antar dasa lord is indispensible. Aslo if both dasha and bhukti lords are sadharmi and atma-sambhandhi then results would be most favourable. Thanks and Regrads M.Imranenergonmusic <energonmusic > wrote: Dear Honourable Members, I have a relatively beginner's question concerning timing the major effects of the dashas of the Vimshottari dasha scheme.
