confusion regarding gemstones...kindly educate.

Dear list,

Forgive me if this a silly question, as i am merely a student.

 

My confusion with the contradictory logic of subscription of Gemstones as remedial measures.

 

We all agree (in varying degrees) that as gemstones represent various planets

within the jyotish realm, they naturally have an effect on us. Primarily

because of the color/light and touch transmission thru to us as we wear them in

variously prescribed forms.

 

While some experts suggest wearing a Gem for a malefic to decrease its effects,

others suggest wearing a Gem for a benefic to increase its effects. Here lies

my confusion; if wearing a gem strengthens its corresponding planet, then why

wear malefic gems. Similarly, on the contrary, if it weakens a said planet,

then why wear benefic gems.

 

I understand that remedies/solutions can lie in either of the two approaches

(strengthening the beneifc OR pacifying the malefic), but in case of Gems,

since you end up wearing the Gem in either case, how do we "activate" the

pacifying OR strengthening aspect of the Gem?

 

Please guide and clarify my understanding on this;
