Dear Ajith,

Mala Masa is also called as Adhika Masa and is not good to start any auspicious

function.This is mentioned in Muhurta Madhaveeyam. This year Adhika Sravana

Month started on 17/07/2004 and ends on 15/08/2004.

Dear Ajith,

 

Current Month is Adhika Sravana. So your doubt is timely .

 

From what I read, This month is not good for performing Marriage or

such tasks. But Adhika Masa is good for Religious and purposes. the

tapasyas like fasting, puja, japa yeild fruits many more times than

effort.

 

Mala by the name itself means excreation. Here is some meanings

which I found from Monier Williams Dictionary

 

Mala : "dirt filth dust impurity any bodily excretion or secretion

described as phlegm from chyle bile from the blood nose mucus and ear

wax from the flesh perspiration from the fat nails and hair from the

bones rheum of the eye from the brain cf. also the 12 impurities of

the body original sin natural impurity the tip of a scorpion's tail

L. dirty niggardly. unbelieving. godless"
