Sasthiyamsah--to Narasimha or other Gurus

I'm no guru but the info you need is right here on this board.

Simply go over to the Files link and look for bphs.zip uploaded by

Visti (in_joy_i_scream). Go over to Chapter 6 "The Sixteen Divisions

of a Rasi" and see the translations for Paragraphs 33-41. That's

where all Shastiamsas are enumerated. The calculation is elementary.

Even figuring out whether they are benefic or malefic is fairly easy

if you know a little bit of Hindi/Sanskrit. For e.g. I am guessing

Ghora is malefic, Vishnu is benefic, Mritu is malefic, Deva is

benefic, Seetala is benefic, Poorna Chandra is benefic, Apampati I

dont know, Rakshasa is malefic. In any case, if you have Santhanam's

translation of BPHS in your possession, there is a page

(corresponding page for the paras above) which has all the

Shastiamsas, their meanings and maleficence/beneficence..

Re. the calculations. There is step where the intermediary value is

divided by 12. What if this value is less than 12? Should the

remainder be considered as 0 or as the value itself?

the given a list of meanings for the various shashtiamsas.

Some meaning which I can find for your questions is

i.e. the meaning of

Ghora = Frightening, violent, .

Vishnu = All prevador

Mritu = Death

Deva = Divine

Setala = Sheetala/pleasant

Poorna Chandra = Full Moon

Apampati= Lord of water/ Ocean/Varuna

Rakshasha = Demon

[vedic astrology] Sasthiyamsah--to Narasimha or other Gurus

 

 

Hello Narasimha:

 

It was refreshing to read your notes on Pt. Sanjay's chart,

especially the meaning of certain Sasthiyamshas.

 

I've been doing web research to find the meaning of various

Sasthiyamshas, but I wasn't able to find any answers.

 

Whenever you find time, can you please post the the board the meaning

of various Sasthiyamshas, i.e. the meaning of Ghora, Vishnu, Mritu,

Deva, Setala, Poorna Chandra, Apampati, Rakshasha, etc. And, also

whether they're considered good or bad. Thanks
