Guest guest
information from book "Time Changes in the World" by Doris as cirulated in other group is * Throughout India, War time (6h 30m) began at 0:00 (midnight) 1st September 1942 and was in force until 0:00 (midnight) 15th October 1945 when it returned back to standard time (5h 30m). * There were 3 variations to the above, in the Eastern states. These are the dates when War Time was in force: a) Bengal: 1st Oct 1941 (0:00) to 15th May 1942 (0:00) 1st Sep 1942 (0:00) to 1st Sep 1947 (0:00) b) Assam: 1st Nov 1941 (0:00) to 15th May 1942 (0:00) 1st Sep 1942 (0:00) to 15th Oct 1945 (0:00) c) Bihar: 1st Dec 1941 (0:00) to 15th May 1942 (0:00) 1st Sep 1942 (0:00) to 15th Oct 1945 (0:00) Some additional notes: * The current standard time of 5h30m was used by the government from 1st Jan 1907 but many cities remained on Local Mean Time * The French Establishments and Portugese Goa adopted 5h30m from 18th July 1911 * Calcutta did not change to standard time (5h30m) until 1st Oct 1941. Prior to this, it used Local Mean Thus to my understanding 5 h 30 mts E of GMT should be used to cast the chart. This gives rising degree to be 15 Sg 14 as ASC and Leo Navamsa. original message Dear Shrivastavaji,Sagittarius Lagna appears correct. Guest guest
Dear Shrivastavaji, Please take a look at this information about DST. This is separate from War time which as then referred as Double day time. This assumes importance as we calculate WRT GMT. "After the War, several Acts of Parliament were passed relating to summer time. Eventually, in 1925, it was enacted that summer time should begin on the day following the third Saturday in April (or one week earlier if that day was Easter Day). The date for closing of summer time was fixed for the day after the first Saturday in October. The energy saving benefits of this were recognized during World War II, when clocks were put two hours ahead of GMT during the Summer. This became known as Double Summer Time. During the war, clocks remained one hour ahead of GMT throughout the winter." By the way Gah coordinates are 72E39'08" 33N03' 45". Regards, Chandrashekhar.
