Guest guest
Dear Sirs, I have been reading all the mails on Ishta-devtas and Atmakarakas. I have some queries and concerns regarding ishta-devta for planet Mars. I understand that hanuman,kartikeya,chamunda-devi and narsimha all represents mars – except kartikeya all 3 are married in their respective original forms. All of them except kartikey are incarnations of : Hanuman - shiva Chamunda - gauri/parvati Narsimha - vishnu Generally Hanuman is not advised because he never married and is a celibate. If this be than even rest 3 were not married and also the incarnation was with specific objective or purpose. I pray hanuman as a representation of mars because know much of hanuman who is worshiped all over India but have little or no knowledge or information about kartikeya who is more so famous in south as Subramaniym or Chamunda-devi i know for sure that her name is used while performing some evil/black-magic kind of and Narsimha is the one who came to rescue bhakt pralhad.. Also except for hanuman who is also symbolised as "das" and who assisted Rama to attain his objective..the others are warrior gods... Generally one would advise to pray kartikeya, chamunda and narsimha...but how is it possible to pray all for one Mars (since all of them represents mars) and it would only mean thinking on whether we are praying to a right devta or not. I request the members to help me clarify my doubts and concerns. I am enclosing my birth-chart for reference if need be. Is simply praying ishta-devta and regularly performing pooja enough or one needs to recite mantras also? If mantras are necessary, may I request to recommend a mantra to me? I await your response. Thanking you. Regards Shubhangi Attachment: sn-chart.jhd [not stored]
Guest guest
Dear Shubhangi, Namaste. I refer to Pandit Rath's book "Vedic Remedies in Astrology" page 47, where Harihara's views on deities are explained. As per this view, Mars in odd signs indicates male deities like Kartikeya, Bhairava or Narasimha where as Mars in even signs indicates Chamundi, Bhadrakali and other female Martian deities. Now in your case, Rahu is the atmakaraka and placed in Virgo navamsa (exalted). 12th to this is Ta, an even sign, where retrograde Mars is posited. Thus Mars becomes your istadevata and according to Hariharas views in VRA, it indicates that your istadevata is Chamundi. Some mantras for Chamundi Devi are given at http://www.srath.com/mantra/durga.htm. If you have a diksha Guru or are initiated, you can try any of the mantras given therein. Otherwise you may consult Sarbani who is very knowledgeable in this subject. She will advise a mantra that is appropriate for you. Now to clear the vital point which you raised: How do you know which of the istadevata forms you are comfortable with? Or how will you know that the mantra is most appropriate for you? I cannot offer any specific advice in this regard but cite my personal experience here. When searching for the mantra for my istadevata (Padmalakshmi & Srinivasa of Tirupati), luckily I found a prayer for this specific form in VRA and within a week of starting this prayer, I received pictures of Lord Venkateswara three times from unrelated sources which convinced me that I was on the right track as far as my istadevata is concerned. So be observant when starting your prayers, sometimes you may get a dream or people may come to advise you and then the theme becomes apparent. I hope this helps you. best regards Hari Poorvashada 2Shubhangi Naik <shubhangi_naik (AT) rediffmail (DOT) com> wrote: Dear Sirs,I have been reading all the mails on Ishta-devtas and Atmakarakas.I have some queries and concerns regarding ishta-devta for planet Mars.I understand that hanuman,kartikeya,chamunda-devi and narsimha all represents mars – except kartikeya all 3 are married in their respective original forms. All of them except kartikey are incarnations of :Hanuman - shiva Chamunda - gauri/parvati Narsimha - vishnu Generally Hanuman is not advised because he never married and is a celibate. Guest guest
Sorry Friends!! Forgot to add the subject hence sending again. Regards Shubhangi Note: Forwarded message attached -- Orignal Message -- "Shubhangi Naik" <shubhangi_naik (AT) rediffmail (DOT) com> onlyhari , vedic astrology, sarbani (AT) (DOT) org, ramadasrao (AT) (DOT) co.in "Shubhangi Naik" shubhangi_naik onlyhari, vedic astrology, sarbani, ramadasrao Dear Hari,Sarbaniji,Sajjiji,Jayshreeji,Patwardhanji,Ramdasji and all friends, I thank you all and appreciate all of your help in trying to assist me. It appears to me that my mail which was basically to clarify the doubts and concerns on which ishta-detva to be prayed is on the verge of entering into debate/controversies on kartikeya being whether worshiped by females or not. I appreciate your having shared the knowledge to the group. But if the same hurts anyone's feelings even unknowingly/unintentionally is not not right. Sharing knowledge without hurting anyone's feeling is allright. India is the only country which has variety of traditions and customs and each people function as per their tradition and belief. Hence as some of you have already said, it is better that we dont make an issue of it and respect each other's beliefs and traditions - and each ones belief and tradition is supreme to oneself. Coming to me, let me share with you all my personal experience. I was in school then, i visited Hanuman temple, the person in charge of that small temple (not pujari) allowed all males to offer oil to Hanuman but did not allow me and my sister (as we were the only 2 females present at that time) to offer. He disallowed saying that Hanuman is celibate and that females are not allowed to offer....I did not like it and asked him so what if he is celibate he had a mother who was a female. What i wish to say is that it does not matter whether any particular God is worshiped by female or not. What matter is to whoever we pray should be our right ishta-devta...the one who can assist us overcome our problems. Hence my humble request to you all is to help me find my ishta-devta for Mars. Many thanks to you all. Best wishes to you all. Regards Shubhangi
Guest guest
om namo näräyaëäya| Dear Shubhangi Naik, Now as per my knowledge, AK is Rahu and in Navamsha he is placed in Mithuna and Kuja (V) in 12th to Rahu indicates your Ishta Devatha. Now the sign where Kuja (V) is Vrishabha which is a female sign ruled by Shukra. Now you see that both Shukra and Kuja (V) will have exchange of places and so Shukra comes to Vrishabha and Kuja (V) goes to his own place. Now Shukra is placed in Agni Tattwa Rashi of Mesha and so when he exchanges the place he carries the Agni with him and this indicates the Shakthi and so your Ishta Devatha must be none other than Godess Shakthi or Durga. You can chant the stotras of Godess Durga, sing bhajans for HER etc. I hope this helps you.
