Dear Mr. Peter,

Timing in astrology is a much researched

subject. Especially, timing events in Mundane Astrology requires more of

thinking and judgment. Generally, events take place when planets come next to

each other within a few degrees, also called illumination points. To know more

about these, you can refer to my article appearing in the January 2004 issue of

The Astrological Magazine.

Not much is given in a book format by

revered Dr. Raman, but however, you can get an ocean of information from his

editorials.

you how vedic astrology actually "times" a yoga.. ie its

actual occurrence in the year? The great BV Raman does not mention this

in his books.

[vedic astrology] Kala

Sarpa Yoga - Analysis

Kala Sarpa Yoga of 2004

and its consequences

- Raman Suprajarama

Kala Sarpa Yoga is defined by

the ancient texts as the hemming of all planets between Rahu and Ketu.

This rare occurrence takes place between the last last week of May and second

week of October. The recent eclipse of May 5 and the subsequent Kala Sarpa yoga

have created inquisitiveness in the minds of modern scholars.

The usual movement of these

two notes is anticlockwise direction. This creates a doubt as to whether the

planets should lie between Rahu and Ketu or between Ketu and Rahu. Different

scholars have different opinions on this. Some say that the yoga occurs when

the planets are between Rahu and Ketu and at the same time neglect the reverse

situation.

My humble understanding of the

subject and peep into the past has shown me that at the macro level, the

reverse i.e. planets hemmed between Ketu and Rahu, also has some repercussions.

The consequences are comparatively less though certainly not ruled out.

Terms such as revolution,

death of kings, etc is associated with such combinations. A peek into the

celestial positions will certainly help in getting to know the likely

happenings, and help in taking remedial measures necessary to avert/minimize

the situation. During the last week of May, Mars - Saturn conjunction takes

place in Gemini. Gemini is an airy Sign. The above combinations are evil in

nature.

America is the indicated country, though

England

might also be affected to a certain extent. There could be strikes by civilians

because of non-favorable sanctions imposed by the government. The Bush

government could take care to see that it protects the interest of the citizens

than just implement certain policies. The topic of

World

Trade

Center

could probably be opened again.

The conjunction, with

reference to Indian Independence horoscope, takes place in the 2nd house.

Second house, in mundane astrology, denotes Revenues, Wealth of people, Imports

and other commercial transactions. The financial Situation of the country could

probably weaken comparatively. Lord of Gemini, in the 11th could lead to

decrease in Imports or currency fluctuations.

The first week of September

will see Venus-Saturn conjunction in cancer. Cultural differences might likely

occur in Holland. A careful

handling of the situation by the government officials will definitely be

helpful.

Astrological indications help

to alleviate any negative influences that are likely to occur.
