So if you say with JHL you are checking for KP ayanmsa then it is not correct as per the formula for ayanamsa in KP system. Due to limitations of my knowledge and as article is not a soft copy I won't provide you the full article but in my previous mails I gave the ayanamsa as per KP system for this year 23 deg 49' 36" and for next year i.e. 2005 it's 23 deg 50'26".Also these are the values on 15th April every year and as days goes on we should change it with proportion!! Same is the case for other years and as years will passes the difference between Lahiri and KP will get reduce!! So I think when you say KP ayanamsa don't keep a const. difference of 6' 5.4" It will vary w.r.t. year(I left day's part)! That's all what I have understood from the article written by Prof. K. Balachandran, Research and Eminent Scholar in KP system and a respectable personality in KP circles. For other ayanamsas I'm least aware how they get derived!! And have heard there are so many panchangas in India (say in thousand) it's very difficult to do trial or error method on all of them but if we get formulaes for them then astronomy can help us out atleast we will have a clue to reach to nearmost ayanamsas and then we can fine tune them for predictive purpose! I'll suggest we are having 1800 members on list say atleast 100 are writing to list so if all of them try out with particular ayanamsa for fixed period of time we can run such activity and may conclude about ayanamsas. But for that formulaes and learned members in astronomy are neccessary! That's what I feel. Learned members & Guru's may guide us. Prof Krishnamoorthy of KP system takes 285 ad as the year. I think Dr B.V.Raman takes it as 425 ad. I have experimented with the Laheri and KP ayanamsa. The change in the ayanamsa changes the Longitude of Planets. If we consider the Moon,s Longitude, then the start of the Vimsottari Dasa (balance od Dasa at birth) will change. This chnage can be upto 45 days, depending on the Dasa at birth. We know the dates of importaant events in our life: 1st Job,Marriage, Birth of 1st Child etc. Check which ayanamsa indictes these dates correctly( or nearly correct). Then you can decide which ayanmsa is more suited. In my experience I have found KP Aynamsa to be more reliable. I beleive Ramdasji also uses KP ayanmsa for timing events. patwardhanvinay <patwardhanvinay (AT) hotmail (DOT) com> wrote: ||Shri GaneshDattaGurubhyo Namah|| I'm not expert in this sensitive point of ayanamsa & not tried on various ayanamsas but I'm giving some informatiom which I'm having with me. Based on that I'll ask senior members & Gurus to direct us. 1) The tropical & sidereal zodiacs coincide at a particular instant on a 23rd march 291A.D. So that we can consider as vernal equinox as the epoch of coinciding of two zodiacs. Correct? 2)Is Shri Lahiri's tables of sun are depend on Prof. New Combs values? 3)What is Bessel's fictitious year? Does it have any connection with the formula for Ayanamsa ? Lastly I'll like to give quotes:- " According to Shri Lahiri , there is a positive ayanamsa of 4'59.31" at our zero Ayanamsa epoch (4hr41min18sec)on 23rd March 291 A.D. (SAKA ERA 213)" I tink these questions will reveal many things!! Waiting for reply from all learned members & Gurus. Raghuvir Smaran!!
