Guest guest
Dear friends, Could you please tell me who Jala Devi is? I see that the Moon as Istha indicates Gauri or Jala Devi. I know Gauri, of course, but I've never heard of Jala Devi. Does this indicate Ganga or Varuni (from the meaning of the word Jala, to mean water, hence a river or the ocean). What are the mantras / stotras / puja vidhaan for her, and how do I visualize her, and what days should I worship her (she is my Palana Devatha)? Sorry, I am full of questions! Also, do the days of the week have anything to do with the Istha Devathas? The reason I ask is that each day is special to a planet, and in Hinduism it is also special to a specific diety. For example, today, Monday is special for Lord Shiva. But the ruling planet, the Moon, does not indicate Shiva. It does indicate his consort, Gauri, though. Is there any correspondance between the planets and the traditional diety worshipped that day, or not? Some of them do seem to correspond, like for instance, Friday representing Venus, and traditional Lakshmi Puja on Fridays. I mentally offer prayers to both the planet and the diety of the day, but would appreciate clarification from the experts on this forum. Thank you all. And thanks to all the generous people that responded to my previous questions. Sincerely, Venkatarama
