Guest guest
Dear All, I have been discussing this aspect on mantras with some people, but haven’t found a satisfactory reply. Could the learned members of this list pls enlighten me as to the various aspects of mantras as to whether a Beej Mantra can be recited by anyone irrespective of caste creed or religion. Should one check the suitability of the mantras through the selection process prescribed in VRA. Eg. Is it needed to check which house the mantra takes the energy and which house the mantra gives the energy to. Should the beej mantra then be altered, is that ok. Why do most professional astrologers do not take this aspect into account when they prescribe the mantras, or is it that no one knows of this method. For remedies, that is for giving remedies which can be easily done by common man who has less time and more complicated brainsJ, can Beej mantra be easily prescribed since they are comparatively easy to recite. Many queries, it would be nice if someone with authority answered them. Thanking you, Sushmita Search - Find what you’re looking for faster http://search. Guest guest
Dear Shri Kasturirangan, It is my understanding that prasiddhi mantras can be given. Please elaborate a bit more on this when you have time. regards Harirkrangan <rkrangan (AT) softhome (DOT) net> wrote: Om Gurave NamahDear SushmitaAllow me an opportunity to share what I have learnt. I do not claim to be an authority but have been traditionally and properly initiated and have, over the years, learnt certain important lessons on mantras. Bija mantras are seed mantras. If bijas are commonly believed as "suitable" for everyone, the answer is a clear NO. Let there be clear understanding that Bija mantras are very powerful. They bring quick results. Of course, to my knowledge, bija mantras can be chanted by anyone irrespective of caste, creed or religion. But the underlying point I want to make is that it has to be "given" by a competent Guru. Why? The Guru has to ascertain from a person's chart, suitability of the mantra for the person, knowing the person's state of mind, illnesses, spiritual and general disposition etc etc and then "initiate" the person. Again, why? A Guru is akin to God-incarnate. He knows what is best for his sishya. A bija mantra when constantly chanted activates the appropriate chakras in our body and thereby impacts a certain tatwa. For example, "Aum" belongs to the mind, the most subtle element. The seat of the mind is ajna chakra. Therefore, "Aum" is the mantra of ajna chakra and is considered to be the most powerful of all bija mantras. The bija mantra "Lam" represents earth (bhoomi tatwa) the seat of mooladhara chakra; "Vam", the water (jala) element, swadhisthana chakra; "Ram", the fire (agni) element, manipura chakra; "Yam", the air (vaayu) element, anahata chakra and "Ham", the ether element, vishuddhi chakra. So only a Guru can decide what is to be activitated or controlled. Now each bija mantra has a devata too. A mantra may comprise of several bijas. For example take the Navakshari mantra, "Aim Hrim Klim Chamundayai Vichche", which is a confluence of tri-devis -Sri Chamundi (Durga), Saraswathi and Lakshmi. A Guru may decide to prefix an "Aum" to make it a dasakshari depending on suitability and "need" for the individual. It is also important one should endeavour to understand the meaning, the devata, the accent and delivery of the mantra. Now a Guru's guidance here is imperative.Since bija mantras are a high potency dose, people who do not have fixed mental formations should practise an ordinary mantra rather than a bija mantra. Pt Sanjay Rath has given a subtle indication about this in VRA and his website, when he has discussed the Mrityunjaya mantra. When a bija mantra is chanted, the awakening of prana is uncontrollable. Many people have experiences which at times can create a scare, almost within a few days of chanting the bija mantra. Some may have a rush of anger, some may experience an uncontrollable sexual desire, some may turn emotional and some may get even depressed. In common parlance, some develop headaches, some develop gastritis, some perspire profusely, some become so confused with daily activities etc. Therefore, a book cannot determine the correct mantra for anyone. The mantra has to come from a living person - the Guru, and not from books. It is usually said that only "A live candle alone can light up another one, so even a soul alone can touch another soul. The soul can receive impulses from another soul, and from nothing else". This is the deeksha or initiation. When a Guru initiates a person with a mantra, it is just not a simple transfer. The Guru gives a part of his spiritual power, which though subtle is very powerful. You can well imagine the spiritual power, a Guru would ideally have in order to "initiate" mantras to others. The power is of a larger magnitude if the initiation is by a Guru from a parampara. And, more if the Guru does his daily sadhana. He will be instrumental for "chitta suddhi" and "chitta vrithi".A person may hold a PhD in mantra sastra, but he/she may not be initiated at all. Even if he/she is, what will be his/her spiritual depth and power? One cannot say. Would mantras taken from such a person work or would mantras "given" by sages, acharyas, godmen, tapaswis or take our parampara jyotish gurus like Sanjay, Narasimha or other accomplished gurus work well? So, the point I am driving home is, it definitely matters who initiates !The learned say that the Guru is the ultimate authority and can override the rules for the construction and use of bija mantras.VRA is one source. You may learn and understand the basics of how the mantra works, from VRA or through these lists or from experts here. Pt Sanjay Rath has revealed a lot of parampara secrets. But he always says Lord Shiva has locked up all mantras. Only the Guru holds the key to unlock them. Read the latest post of Sanjay ji giving specific mantras for Sangeetha's chart.>Why do most professional astrologers do not take this aspect into >account when they prescribe the mantras, or is it that no one knows >of this method.Interesting point here, Sushmita. I have also seen a lot of astrologers here on this and other lists prescribe or roll-out mantras, among other remedies. I discussed this with Sanjay ji also. He was also planning to address this issue from a Guru's perspective, especially the way people are offering remedies. A note of caution here is a wrong mantra can be destructive.First, it is never easy to learn about bija mantra or any mantra without a parampara Guru. Mantra sastra is an ocean. Nobody will reveal much, as some bijas are still guarded secrets and unless the Guru is convinced about the person's development, spiritual growth, attitude and progress, he will not teach. And, he will teach only at the right time.Receiving them from a Guru is one. Giving it to others is altogether another story. But one should STOP there, until one has the Guru's clearance to give mantras to others. One will reach that stage after deep spiritual practice, firm belief and rigorous sadhana. One should not give mantras based on published books. Why? Ponder over the power of the deeksha that I have already given above.>For remedies, that is for giving remedies which can be easily done >by common man who has less time and more complicated brainsJ, can >Beej mantra be easily prescribed since they are comparatively easy >to recite.No. They can be given only by a competent Guru. The least one could do is to check with such a Guru on using a particular bija. The prayog of certain type of bijas in mantras is a very secret vidya and should not be used out of curiosity.I want to elaborate more on this subject. Maybe later again, when I have time.May Vedamatha Gayatri inspire and enlighten our intellect.SincerelyR.
