dear sir,

in Vedic astrology only 16 types of divisions are recognised as given earlier. If you find anywhere any other division like 5th etc., is a latest venture./ you you can call by any name.

Regarding the interpretation of these divisons -a brief is given below - as many members are curious.

In simpale terms :

1. Any divisonal chart to be studied to supplement the readings of Rasi chart.

2. But it is seen in latest studies these charts are studied independently also.-In such cases linking the rasi chart may become a critical issue..

3. what is not granted in Rasi chart cannot be promised. for example - if a planet is exalted and strong enough in divisonal chart but has no strength in rsi chart like debilitation / combust etc., - such exaltation in divisonal chart is not useful.

4. You may be knowing that we call a planet has vargothama strenth if it is seen in same sign both in Rasi and Navamsa - on the similar lines each planet is to be judged. If a planet is in same sign in many divisional charts that planet is considerd to be stronger. Diffenrrent names are given for differetn strengths.

5. If a planet is in friendly, enemical sign in differetn rasis - their strength differs.

6. all the planets positional strength in all 16 divisons are shown a table called "Summary of shodasavargas table" and "vimshopaka table." in many softwares.

7. Mostly these divisional charts are useful for timing of events - Transit of bhava karka planets or dasa/bhukti lords while transiting the corresponding signs in a divisonal chart - it is a sensitive time for occurence of a good or bad event.
