Dear Sanjayji,

If I may add, Nishek and Garbhaadhaan, both, probably refer to coitus and not

fertilization/conception. The reason is that one, sperm can mate with Ovum up

to 48 Hours from release(Not 7 days as dear Hari says, if I remember right) and

second, gestation period itself is variable. This being so, there might not be a

right formulae to confirm the time of conception based on time of birth or

vice-a-versa. This is probably the reason that not many texts mention it, as a

tool for correct prediction which hat Hora is all about. It, Nishek/Aadhana

Lagna, might be more useful in trying to time a good time for coitus in order

that a wife conceives when there are difficulty in conception, and that might

be the reason for elaborating on it in some texts.

Of course this is my personal opinion and others more learned than me might hold other views

Regards,

Chandrashekhar.

Om Gurave namah

Dear hari

The words Nisheka and adhana have been used loosely in the context mentioned.

Nisheka is the time of union and adhana is the time of fertilisation of the

ovum or the start of pregnancy.

As you said, the times can be different and to this I fully agree as it is an

established scientific fact. By using Nisheka for adhana calculations, the late

Santanam has perhaps, overlooked this vital fact.

Best wishes

||Om Brihaspataye Namah||Dear Vishnu,Thats an excellent suggestion and I also

hope that the Gurus/learned members would share this input on (garb)adhana

lagna which is supposed to be the most accurate of all the three

lagnas.Obviously, I wont ask you how you got the adhana lagna for yourself

(smile) but I am rather curious to know your definition for the same because

the time of conjugal union and the time of fertilization of the ovum by the

spermatozoa can be different, differing in margin by as much as 7 days.Another

suggestion: many members use web access; so can you please repost the two jhd

charts in text format directly inside the mail?regardsHari--- In
