Dear Rajiv,

LIstening is one of the nine different means of devotional service, so its fine.

But chanting is better as it engages more senses. When we chant a little

audibly, our 1) Mouth is engaged 2) Eyes can be engaged in seeing a picture of

the Lord 3) Ears are engaged in listening to our chanting 4) if you are using a

mala for the Japa, the sense of touch is also engaged. Hence, four out of five

senses are engaged in the service of the Lord, the fickle mind has to

reluctantly follow.Otherwise, the mind will be drawn by the senses in five

different directions and our prartna becomes futile. So in my opinion, chanting

the manthra audibly or to the extent the ear is engaged is very vital.

Hello All

I had a question regarding mantra recitation. Is it ok to listen to a mantra and

concentrate on listening as opposed to reciting. i have seen that if I listen it

gives me more peace and shanti than reciting as I am always concerned about

uccharan and other details.

Also I read Manas pooja is best form of pooja as it is dhyan and solitude by

which one can attain God.

Hello Jayashree:I remember you from the "astroexpert" website. Thank you for

your advice. I'm already reciting Laxmi-Narayana mantra daily for 108 times,

Sanjay gave me this mantra. I also recite Narsimha mantra 108 times daily, PVR

gave me this mantra. I'm also doing Durga and Baglamukhi pooja every evening.

Jayashree, I tried the pooja of Durga Ma by lighting 9 lemons for 9/18/27

consecutive Fridays and Tuesdays--I guess either you had posted this or Amutha

had posted this. I tried it only on Fridays and only for 9 consecutive weeks

and it brought about a lot of peace in my heart. I'm going to do this again for

the 9 days of Navaratri, I'm hoping it brings some peace in my life.Is there a

web-site where I can find Laxmi-Narsimha mantra? I checked out the website you

recommended, but it appears it is in Tamil and

I don't know any Tamil at all so I won't be able to use it.RegardsMukund--- In
