Guest guest
Namaste, The guy is unnecessarily confused and is confusing others. JHora uses Gregorian calendar and Julian calendar for birthdata entry, because that is the calendar in which birthtimes are noted these days. It is just for convenience. If I ask you to enter the birthdata in Hindu calendar, many people will not even know what to enter. When somebody is born, people simply note the date and time as per the Gregorian calendar. So JHora uses this calendar for data entry. But, internally this time is converted to an epoch and converted to to Hindu calendar. Calculations are made accurately for that point in time. From this point onwards, it does not matter which calendar was used for data entry. All further calculations are based on Hindu calendar and the calculations given are what an astrologer needs. When it comes to giving the weekday, it is part of the panchanga (tithi, vaara, nakshatra, yoga and karana) and has a use in astrology. So the weekday displayed is based on Hindu calendar. The guy wondered if he's really born on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Well, the answer is simple. He's born on Wednesday as per a meaningless calendar (which is supported for birthdata entry because of its wide use) which somehow thinks midnight is the most important point of a day and changes the day then. But, this weekday and its lord (Mercury) have no astrological significance in his chart. Astrologically, he is born on a Tuesday and Mars is the weekday lord for astrological purposes. The issue is not even Hindu vs western. The issue is what is significant astrologically. Guest guest
Namaste Narashima, Thanks thats what my initial thought was you are converting dates and calendar objects ...But was deceived by his question.. BTW we have to think from customer's/users perspective, Most of end users are basically non-technical and they just blame the software Anyway we should always try and improve software quality by removing geniune bugs.. One more question have you created this in C++ ??? using MFC ?? thanks Abhijeet vedic astrology, "pvr108" <pvr@c...> wrote: > Namaste, > > The guy is unnecessarily confused and is confusing others. > > JHora uses Gregorian calendar and Julian calendar for birthdata > entry, because that is the calendar in which birthtimes are noted > these days.
