Guest guest
Dear Abhijeet & All: This is a wonderful and very important question. It's a question echoed by Western educators especially in the field of child education. How much of a young person's life is due to 'heredity' or destiny and how much is due to nurturing, or free will? This is also an ancient and somewhat unresolved Philosophical question. Philosophers of all ages have contemplated whether individuals have free will and if so, how much..? There are, however, some recent developments in the field of consciousness which may shed some light on this important question. Recently, it's been proposed that the human state of consciousness, called pure consciousness is in fact intimately related to the vacuum state in quantum physics. What is significant about this, if it's true, is that, the field of the vacuum state is literally a field of unlimited potential. If, therefore, a person's consciousness is connected to this 'unlimited' field .... then theoretically a person might have literally, unlimited potential... The problem though is if we're not educated properly in either how to access or develop this state then even though we may believe in man's innate 'power' to be free, practically speaking, too often, practical experience shows us that we are extremely limited.. Jyotish has a lot of potential to show in actuality, how much freedom does a person have. When a person has strong, powerful and dominating, 'malefics' in their chart, then, predispositioned, patterns, or thought forms of these malefic sorts dominate and the person's life reflects a lot of fate. However, when we look at the benefics in our charts which represent well developed and/or in-tune human abilities or traits, then we find that a person wields great creativity, inventiveness and power of human life. For me the question is also, 'Is it possible to develop more free will or freedom in life. Or are we more ruled by the predetermined aspects of life?' I believe however, because it's the nature of life to grow and evolve that we are meant to grow especially in the areas of our charts. If we have a weak or undeveloped Moon for example, there are enumerable things that we can do to strengthen and therefore develop that emotional side of us which we call the Moon. Then, there is the Sun which is the primary significator of human 'will'. I believe, that the answer to your question may also be solved by looking at the different 'wills' or Sun's in people's charts. A person's ability to apply themselves, exercise their will and do and accomplish are qualities of Sun power. It will be very easy to research this. Take 100 people and ask them a battery of self-confidence, 'willful' questions and you should be able to see a very highly significant correlation between their 'wills' and their 'Suns'. Now, if it is possible to strengthen the Sun's inside of us then maybe it'll even be possible to improve the 'will' and therefore the power of freedom in life. But, improving the Self or Sun is normally thought to be very difficult. >From a Psychology perspective, to be able to improve a person's self-confidence when the Father or Mother element in life was weak or abusive, is found to be very difficult. However, there is a lot of new data which supports the fact that individuals who have learned the classic yoga meditation, especially of transcendental meditation have been able to grow in terms of self-confidence and hence, strength of will and hence....greater freedom in life. I can understand this theoretically, because the practice of meditation is a practice that literally strengthens...or unfolds the normally latent and certainly undeveloped inner potential of the Self, or Sun. This is theoretically possible especially since that research in quantum mechanics has been able to show that the state of pure consciousness in human life is identifiable with the unlimited ground state of quantum field theory. Practically, too, when you have the direct experience of this technique of meditation, you do suddenly as if miraculously feel stronger. You feel more focused and your ability to act, to do and accomplish is just suddenly stronger. There are also some other Vedic suggestions that I've been personally suggesting for those who are especially interested in developing their 'will', or freedom to act. In Vedic science there is a branch of Vedic Knowledge call the Upanishads. This is one of the brances that specifically deals with the Self. You'll come across such passages as 'Aham brahmasmi' or 'I am the Totality', there. Other, classic expressions include, ones about Brahman, as the ultimate Reality and include for example: 'I am That and Thou art That and All this is That!' And though these expressions, alone without the personal experience of that full potential of Self-Sun power, are a little empty; however these expressions along with the direct experience of the full potential of the Sun, within... will produce greater integration of Sun ....Self... to oneself and hence more freedom of will! I have had good results sharing some of these, what may be called 'bahavioral modifications', especially with those who lack self-confidence and their Sun's in their charts are weak or undeveloped. Also, there is another side to Jyotish which is very powerful in allowing us to strength our Sun's, free will or Self..... And that is there are some details within the chart that indicate not only where the weakness came from but also .... how we can and are supposed to strengthen ourSelves... For example let's say the Sun is debilatated in Libra in the 10th house. And one is experiencing, primarily, the effects of that Sun weakness at work or in one's career. It is certainly true that for such a person even having a career, certainly a very dynamic and fulfilling one, are lacking. So, the malefic configuration in the chart is definitely symbolic of the problem within and without. But, there's another way of looking at this Jyotish situation. Because, not only are the malefics in our charts indicative of our problems but they're also symbolic of our Jyotish solutions!!! Not only is this person going to have debilitated.... experiences of lack of self-confidence at work, ... but he's also supposed to literally face and strengthen that Sun there by exercising more self-will and growth of Sun, Self power in his daily work! Though this may be hard, but with the divine knowledges of things like meditation, especially and the grace of the Guru.... all things are possible! There is a place inside that is a field of all possibilities. And when you have that direct experience all kinds of imaginings and beliefs are no longer necessary. So sorry for the long, length of this response. I was just inspired by your question....and perhaps... by the Moon's Transit, today....into Pisces.... which is all about 'freedom' and also there with Mars, also in Pisces!!! Jai Guru!
