Dear Partha Ji,

Thank you for all the wonderful information you give to this list.

Regarding the 4 types of yogas you mentioned. You related them to

the Fire / Water etc. signs, which I am guessing are the Lagna

Rasis. How do these yogas relate to the Atmakaraka?

In my specific case, the Atmakaraka is Rahu, and it is in Aries in

Rasi and Taurus in Navamsa. I have been advised that since Rahu is

my atmakaaraka, I should practice Karma Yoga. However, since my Rasi

is Cancer, according to what you just said, it should be Bhakti

Yoga. My Arudha Lagnam is in Libra, and according to other

literature, it should be Gyana Yoga (air sign).

Of course, the more ways I try to achieve the One Goal, the better.

But is there one way that is more suitable than the others, and

should that be based on the Lagna rasi, atma karaka or arudha?

My personality itself leans towards a mix of Gyana Yoga and Bhakti

Yoga. I enjoy reading and discussing Upanishads and other sacred

texts, and pondering over the mysteries in them (the path of gyana

yoga, or knowledge quest.) At other times, I am overcome by love,

especially for Krishna/Vishnu in all his wonderful forms, as well as

for Siva, the peaceful ascetic, or for the Mother in all her forms.

This love is an internal feeling, and not so much the poojas and

vratas that Mr. Narasimha described. Is this still Bhakti yoga, when

it is internal, without necessarily performing a ritual?

What then, is Karma Yoga that I can follow? I perform small acts of

charity - donating money, time etc sometimes, and also trying to

help others in need. This does not seem sufficient, so what else do

you recomment?

Also, could you describe Raja yoga? I have learnt to medidate, to

raise the Kundalini shakti, although I am ashamed to say that I

don't practice it as often as I should. Is this considered raja

yoga? Is chanting (mantras) considered raja yoga too? Is it

performing austerities like the rishis of ancient times?

Thanks!

Venkat
