Beacon light of vedic-Astrology ?

Dear Shri.Viswanathamji,

Thank you very much for the list of thirty three Devathas.

However I was under the impression on the basis of

my Guru's Upadesa that among the INDHRATHI DEVATHAS

the prathma Devatha is ASHTA VASU. It symbolises the 'SAKTHI '

that is derived from eight directions.It is this Sakthi that is being

honoured in any 'Homa' kunda on the eve of any Homa.

Among the Indraadhi devas, who are in all 33, my understading is as follows:

 

1. 8 Vasavas(vasus) indicate the primary source of knowledge(light) . Sun & Moon

the luminaries, 5 planets representing 5 tatwas, all the nakshatras as one

group, making it 8 Vasavas

 

2. Rahu & Ketu representing the 11 rudras (ekadasi rudras)

 

3. Dwadasa adityas, representing (Sun in) the 12 signs

 

4.Prajapati representing the lagna

 

5. Indra is the deity of 10th house (in short) who provides each one with work (kingdom!)

 

Now, knowing that you are a knowledgeable person (from your last few mails), i

only think you are posing a riddle.

 

Am i right. As we can see all are important to explain the paradigm of Jyotisya.

Dear Gupta,

 

Very well said. 8 vasus are the primary sources of light. However, if we

understand the 'light' as the 'knowledge', all the 33 devas are important in

laying the foundation for astrology. This is what i understood from the

teachings of Pt. Rath.
