Shadripu - to Sarajit

Very sweet of you to answer in place of Zoran and for encouraging me.

Thank you for explaining the meaning of Shadripu, I could understand most of

what you said except why should Mercury give rise to jealousy.

As the original letter from Zoran and Rao was few weeks back, I cannot refer to

the combination given by Rao (I am sorry I burst out that day) and check the

way the Shadripu was activated in previous lifetime of the concerned person, as

no chart was provided nor do I remember the planets in the 8th house of the

native.

>From what you and Zoran has written it can be judged that the native did one of

6 sins and this was the cause of his rebirth.

On a lighter plane, why don't we have the 7 eternal sins, re the movie Seven.

Warm regards,

Sushmita

Dear Sushmita,

I guess Zoran has not replied to this so I am taking this query. Shadripu is

made up of two words Shad and Ripu which mean six enemies. These six enemies

are the six weaknesses which hinder us from realizing our true potential. They

are as follows:

Meaning Governed by

Kaama - Passion – Venus Krodha - Anger - Mars Lobha

– Greed - Rahu Moha – Illusion - Ketu Matsarya

– Jealousy - Mercury Mada – Intoxication - Saturn

Sun, Moon and Jupiter are sattvik and hence do not govern any of the shadripus.

Feel free you ask any Jyotish related queries as this forum is for all.

Best Wishes

Dear Sushmita,

Mercury signifies children. Children at times display jealousy if their fellow

playmates have a nice toy or some candy. This is my understanding.

Dear Sudarshan,

Such a beautiful way of explaining Mercury. Thank you and thanks to Sarajit too.

Dear list members, I am revisiting the post on Jup in Leo, a new book full of

real life cases, some 246 cases on marriages that have taken place in the

inauspicious muhurta of Jup in Leo, shall soon be published.

K N Rao tells that it would hit the stands in the 1st of Oct.

Warm regards,

Sushmita

SARVAM GYANANANDAMAYAM JAGAT

AUM GURUBYO NAMAH

Dear Sarajit,Sudharsan & Sushmita,

i hope you don't mind me posting my view in this regard.

In the kaala purusha jataka Buda rules the 3rd and 6th houses. In the 3rd house

Buda allows the exaltation of Rahu to take place and in the 6th house it

promotes itself to be exalted. Infact it is the only planet which does this

self-promotion activity. This self-promotion activity forms the base for the

selfish attitude which inturn is the base for jealousy/matsara(matsarya).

Sukra in the purest form(resulting out of cleansing of kama with the help of

vairaghya{sani} and self sacrifice{ketu}) represents the selfless state on

account of its exaltation in the 12th house of the kalapurusha. This selfless

state is otherwise known as universal love.

The freewill portion of the life is determined by the 3rd,6th,10th and 11th

houses. The subtle hint available here is that greed, jealousy(selfishness),

krodha(anger) and intoxication are ever ready to determine the direction of the

life of the individual. If one finds the time to listen to the

utterances/mahavakyas of Guru(4th is maraka to 3rd - rahu is exalted in 3rd),

if one observes silence(7th is the maraka to 6th - buda beats his own drum in

6th), if one prepares to act after a thought about it(11th is the maraka of

10th martial force is ready to strike on account of exaltation of mars in 10th)

and if one is ready to worship the lotus feet of the lord(12th is the maraka to

11th - kumbha the attractive pot is ever ready to intoxicate) then the life of

the native becomes blissful.

Best wishes,

Astrologically yours,
