Guest guest
Mukund, What you ask is already known. The theory, as Siva seems to agree, is that we evolved from apes in the rift valleys of Africa approximately 5 million years ago. At that time, Africa was fully and densely forested and suited to tree dwelling apes. Natural calamities forced sudden changes in one side of Africa which resulted in a "savannah" kind of habitat - grassland interspersed with trees. That forced the apes on that side to start having to stand up and walk from tree to tree somehow resulting in major brain development. The genetic adaptation to meet this kind of need resulted in the branching out of the walking apes - the forefathers of humans. They evolved to the current state over a period of a few million years. So Homo Sapiens has originated from Africa. There is no evidence of this having happened anywhere else. Also, this theory is not based on one or 2 fossils - there are scores of fossils available showing continuous skeletal change from 2-3 million period until Homo Sapiens. Subsequently (post 1 million years ago) I believe there is a bit of haze. How exactly migration paths were followed out of Africa is not fully known. However, Asia (specifically China), and Europe and even Australia (Aboriginal populations) all have evidence of humans in the 20-40,000 year ago period. The Americas have evidence of dwelling from the past 12,000 years - by Asian immigrants - the forefathers of the native Americans. Columbus brought Europeans only 500 years back. I am unsure exactly what is the case in India though, but I do remember meeting one very educated Andhra person (forget his name - last name was Reddy but that isnt narrowing it down very much) many years ago who actually took me to somewhere in the hills and plains surrounding Hyderabad and unearthed a couple of stone age tools for me (he was an expert at many sciences). That would put dwellings in India in the 20,000 year ago period too..
