Guest guest
Dear Narasimha Raoji, Thank you for taking my input in the right spirit. No doubt Kundalini awakening leads one to knowledge and surrender to the Lord, but it needs to be practiced under the guidance of a realized Guru and one has to be prepared to observe all the Yamas and Niyamas that are essential for its proper practice. For others it is better to aim for the goal of surrender to the Almighty. Regards, Chandrashekhar. Narasimha P.V.R. You are absolutely right. An able guru is needed by one who wants to "harness" the energy of Kundalini. Kundalini rise can give rise not only to severe mental afflictions as you said, but also to physical afflictions. I (and many similar-minded people who are into the path of surrender) actually take a more conservative stand. We consider Kundalini to the the Yoga Maya of the Lord. Instead of harnessing the illusory energy and trying to get some powers, I'd rather leave Her management to the Lord. She was, after all, created by Him. That is why I basically said "thanks, but no thanks" when Partha suggested that I should do Kundalini yoga to make those experiences last longer. The Yoga Maya residing in us is safe under the management of Krishna (even safer than under the management of a good guru!). Narayana will manage Her, if we completely surrender to Him. But complete surrender to Narayana means being prepared for anything (including going mad or such things that are normally considered "dire") and, at the same time, not expecting or wanting any specific result (including the Kundalini rise). Kundalini rise was and is never, and hopefully will never be, my goal. If it happened, it happened naturally, without any desire or directed effort. Of course, others may not agree with this approach. Good luck to them! But they will do well to atleast remember Sri Chandrashekhar ji's words of caution.
