Purva Punya

A while back there was a discussion on understanding Purva Punya

from the 5th house in the Rasi chart. Can anyone repost any

tutorials or schemes for understanding this concept? (I think it was

on this list, my apologies if it was not.)

 

I recall vaguely that the Lord of the 5th house shows the origin of

the Purva Punya, and the planets in the house (and aspects) show the

manifestations in this lifetime. That is, if the 5th house is Meena

Rashi and has Sun in it, the origin of the Purva punyam is because

of the previous lifetime's religious merit, guru's blessings or

father's actions (Jupiter). In this lifetime it will be manifested

as wealth/gold, or royalty/position of power and fame (all powers of

the Sun). Similarly for malefics, the paap of the previous lifetimes

will manifest as the evil caused by the planets in the 5th. Taking

the same example, if the 5th was Mesha instead, it shows Mars as

being the cause, perhaps bloodshed, and the Sun will create royal /

govt. displeasure instead. Of course, I am assuming in the first

case that Jupiter was not debilitated and in the second place Mars

is not exalted - just simplification on my part, it could be very

different due to other factors. Is this theory correct?
