Guest guest
Vidyut Ji, Great story. Yes, you are indeed blessed, for your charitable acts in helping people. Whether the people remember you and thank you for it or not.... there is indeed some divinity everywhere, that will remember and give you the fruits of your labours. Mukund, if you are reading this.. THIS is the value and power of astrology. Helping those in need with all the gifts given to you, whether it be jyotish or other skills. Not ALL of us are money-crazy liars that milk innocent people in the name of astrology. Guest guest
Hello Venkat: Yes, helping those in need is indeed a great thing--it in fact is GOOD karma which Lord Krishna asked us to perform. However, do you really think chanting Shani mantra got this boy a job? If mantras can get people jobs, President Bush would open up a department of "Homeland Mantras" and immediately solve the high unemployment problem we have here in the US. What got this boy a job is his Karma--he got himself out in the job market aggressively looking for a job and therefore he found a job. Had he continued to sit before an idol and chant mantras and wait for miracle to happen, he'd still be unemployed. Guest guest
Hi Mukund, Ah, I definitely agree with you on doing your karma, but I can't agree with you on the rest. Let me explain why. You stated categorically that if this boy had sat in front of the idol and chanted matras, without aggresively looking for a job, he'd still be unemployed. Sure, that seems logical, but if we step back and take a scientific approach - what's the proof? And the opposite is equally true - what's my proof if I state that YES he WILL find a job through mantras. The only conclusion I can draw, using the scientific method, is that 1) there is no proof as in mathematical proof that will cover all cases, and 2) there isn't enough experimental evidence (that I am aware of, maybe others have more) to develop an emphirical proof either that it works or that it does not. Agreed? So, we have 2 ways of finding a job, 1) to aggresively look for one, and 2) to chant mantras. We all know that (1) is a great way to go, but is not 100% successful. (Just ask all the people in tech fields in the US - I personally know people that have been looking very aggressively that have not found jobs). Now, as far as (2) is concerned, chanting mantras, we don't know for sure, since there is enough evidence both ways. My solution? There is no need to just pick one of the two, either looking aggresively or chanting mantras. Pick both! At best, you increased your chance of success. At worst, you are still at the success rate of the one that actually works. Oh, and this is not an abstract theory for me, this is EXACTLY what I did. After being laid off from my job recently, I spent many months doing EVERYTHING in my power to find another job - networking, professional societies, recruiters, internet, family friends, you name it, I did it. And, yes, I chanted mantras for Rahu, the planet in the career house. And - this is the interesting part - as SOON as I finished the required number of times to chant the mantra, I got an interview call out of the blue, from a HR manager that saw my resume on the internet. I did not even apply to this company - I am working here now, doing interesting work, and at a pay raise. Was it because I had a great resume, I put it on the right websites, or because I chanted Rahu mantra? My personal answer to all three questions is Yes, Yes, Yes. Guest guest
One more thing... lest anyone thinks that I am saying that we should NOT do our karma - that is not at all my point. Of course we should. I have no patience at all with people that don't make an effort. My only point was that there is yet soooo much that we do not know, and how mantras work is just one of the millions of things that we do not know. The fact that we don't understand doesnt mean they don't work. -venkat vedic astrology, "venkatarama_sastry" <venkatarama_sastry> wrote: > Hi Mukund, > > Ah, I definitely agree with you on doing your karma, but I can't > agree with you on the rest. Guest guest
Hello Venkat: Very well written note. I'm glad that you agree that by chanting mantras AS WELL AS aggressively looking for a job can lead one to finding a job. However, mantras by themselves don't have the power and potential to make miracles happen. Karma is necessary and if we follow the path of Lord Krishna, righteous Karma is necessary to attian our ends and hope for a better life in the next birth. Guest guest
Mukund, I suppose we will have to agree to disagree, then. My personal view is that I see evidence that mantras work in some instances and not in some other instances, so I cannot categorically say that "yes, they work" or "no they don't". To each his/her own. Venkat vedic astrology, "monmuk111" <monmuk111> wrote: > Hello Venkat: > > Very well written note. Guest guest
Dear Shri Mukund Your views are quite fascinating. It has created some interesting discussion. > Had he continued to sit before an idol and chant mantras and wait for > miracle to happen, he'd still be unemployed. > But do you know any guy who has got a job without looking for a job.Any one who received an offer letter from Asim Premji that pls join our company - we came to know about your skills through your class teacher os so!(from my knowledge no such cases:-) Thus i think job hunt is understandable and need not be explicitly stated. What we are mentinoning here is the extraordinary or the uncommon. But regarding other points i cant say anything.Because you have your own experiences and convictions.I feel since i had prayed i have some benefits or relief, thats my conviction. But your experiences may be different and hence a different kind of learning. This proves that no one can impose any views on another. The learning has to be self and every learning is true.I think we miss Partha ji here! Guest guest
Hi Pradeep, I do know about 3 persons who have got the jobs without even applying. 1)This one happened to my friend's(satish)neighbour(i dont recollect his name as this happened 12 years ago). Sathish wanted to go to a walk in interview conducted by Birla institute of tech. Since he wanted someone to acompany him, he took his neighbour/friend. satish got selected. Since less people turned for the interview , the recruiter asked satish friend whether he is interested in(satish' friend is also in computers). When he said yes, he was also selected...(note, satish friend did not have a resume with him and was not even properly dessed for the interview.. he was in chappels) Both were posted in delhi...satish was send to delhi for usa stamping and he was refused..but his friend was sent to calcutta and got approved and wend to usa. 2)My cousin(vijay) whos is doing his 1st yr mba(india), got 2 offers. he never applied any. When checked with the company on how they got the details , they said that they got it from his college(MCC) 3)Last time my friend(manoj) applied for a job was in 94. He have switched jobs 3,4 times. since he has got a good reputation in his work, it is always the recruiter who calls him for a new jobs. He had never attented any job interviews since 94.
