Guest guest
Hello Gurus, Maharishi Parasara says if Lagna is Vargottama, the appropriate dasa system to use is Shatabdika Dasa. Could Gurus who have used this system enlighten us about the following 1. Is the only difference how the dasa periods are calculated? 2. What has your overall experience in using this system? Has it worked for you? 3. Or is it one of those obsolete Dasa system which need to be ignored and Vimsottari dasa used instead? Another thing is observed was the system goes to only 100 years instead of standard 120 years in Vimsottari. (Note: If I don't know what I am talking about in the last sentence, Please pardon me and ignore it..) Thanks, Sathish
Guest guest
JAYA JAGANNATHA! Dear Satish, Namaste. Shatabdika dasa is a conditional Udu dasa, applicable in charts where the lagna is vargottama. If by chance the native's logevity excels the purnayu of the dasa, which is possible, when the first dasa is for example Saturn dasa, which is 30 years long, but then the dasa sesham may be just a few years if the Moon is at the end of the concerned Naksharta. In these cases the mahadasa cycle repeats all over again. The above is valid for all the conditional dasas. The Vimsottari dasa is non-conditional, so it can be used in any charts. Ashtottari is also an alternative but it is also conditional. The rest of the conditions for satabdika, pancottari etc. are relatively rare. But if they are fulfilled then the conditional dasa apply just like Vimsottari. For details you can read Sanjay Rath's book entitled Vimsottari and Udu dasas .
