On the eleventh day, an orange color cloth clad person appeared near me with a trident in his hand, ash smeared all over his body, beads around his neck and he fought standing next to me. She told him about the temple she had been going to in his absence and wanted him to come and visit the place. One day after taking shower, he went to the temple with his wife. There he saw the picture of Lord Shiva and he cried out, "oh! That's Him.that's Him. who came and helped me and fought with me!" His wife told him that the priest had asked her to do the abishekam for the Lord for eleven days and she did that faithfully. While she was praying for her husband's good health and safe return, the Lord had helped him to overcome the enemies. > > This incident has been recorded in the Government diary of Ujjain. > > > > - ------------- > Want to chat instantly with your online friends? Guest guest
Dear Hariji, It should not be a surprise considering that many cities in present day Afghanistan geographically fall in Sapt-Sindhu basin. Also archaeologically speaking, the present day Afghan cities have been major capitals of Sindhu (aka Indus) civilization. Remember Gandhari (mother of Kauravas) in Mahabharata? Well...she belonged to Gandhar (present day Kabul, Jalalabad and Peshawar) now in Afghanistan and Pakistan. I do not think there are any remaining temples, since after the Muslim religion was introduced in Gandhar, Mundigak, etc. (different provinces of present day Afghanistan in those times) in mid seventh century AD, other religions and cultures, mainly Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, and Buddhism have constantly been on decline. Remember the crushing of Buddha idol in 2000-2001 that took place under Taliban regime? Namaste. Guest guest
Dear Rao, Hari and other friends, Remember this story was posted by some one as being on web site of "Asarambaapu" and there the location was given as Malwa. The authenticity is no doubt more imaginary than real. Guest guest
OM SARVAMOHINYAI VIDMAHE VISHWAJANANYAI DHEEMAHI TANNAH SHAKTI PRACHODAYAAT. Dear Hari and others, I have no idea of Shiva temple in Afhghanistan. But I will give you a surprise that if you all read what is called SRI DURGA SAPTA SHATI which has been told by Maarkandeya Maharshi .Again this has been told by Maharshi Sumedha to a king called Suratha who lost his kingdom and a businessman by name Samadhi who lost all his money who has been cheated by his opponent. After explaining Devi Mahatmya to these 2 people, they got so much confidence in Maharshi's explanation and started worshipping Mother Raja Rajeshwari by forming an idol of Devi in a special mud with full faith and surrenderness.By this Devi appears to them and give them all they lost and told king Suratha that SHE was so pleased with him and so his name will remain in this world and so became a Manu called Saavarnika. All these incidents happened about more than 2000 or more ( ? ) years. But the idol of Sri Raja Rajeshwari made of special mud is still in existence in India near to Mangalore, a place called POLALI.For further information please visit the website : http://www.ourkarnataka.com/temples/polalitemple.htm In this website a complete description of the history of the temple and other informations are given. I hope this helps everybody.
