I was in Delhi the last 3 days on official work and managed to spend a little time with Sarbani and Shiv Pujan. We discussed matters relating to UL. All that people generally discuss at SJC these days is UL and A7..seems to be in the air. Of course I have enjoyed your discussions about your spiritual directions and the number of experiences you have been having. In determination of first UL, second UL etc, from a chart, we talked about involvement of a native with another of the opposite sex, for atleast a samvatsaram, as you had taught in Hyderabad. I learnt from Sarbani that you had taught that mere involvement would not be significant, but "intention" to marry should have been there for that period. Naturally, the most important spiritual message is that 'Man is different from other animals like dogs'. If the animal cannot differentiate a girlfriend/boyfriend from spouse, man would be no better than that if it were not for the Upapäda. That is why Maharishi Paräsara has advised to look into this for the real spirituality aspect as well. After all, why is it good/necessary for a person to be a brahmachari (celibate) to advance spiritually? The 7th house (sexuality) and the 12th house (after death abode or follower i.e. the sign that follows the lagna) are separate issues and these are in shastästaka (mutual 6/8 relationship). The more pure the UL is, the weaker the A7 will be. One way of seeing this is to examine the SAV of the 7th and 12th houses. However, the better way is to examine the number of planets etc in A7. The intention for marriage will be there if there is a link between A7 and UL and either (a) benefic planets are in the 4th house, or (b) lagna has a powerful benefic planet that over-rides the malefic in the fourth house - basically study the combinations for niskapata yoga (non-cheating yoga) carefully. If there is a link between A7 & UL or UL2 or UL3..etc, then the particular UL, when the time and opportunity comes, shall mature into a marriage. Till such time a clandestine relationship can happen. If niskapata yoga is not there and this combination is still there, then the person will be forced to marry girlfriend because she becomes the mother of his baby or because father or other person gets to know (see planets for this). Sarpa yoga activates A7 indirectly through the 7th house whereas natural benefic planets breaking sarpa yoga shall destroy the evil of adultery just like a sincere bow to the wielder of the Sudarshana chakra protects dharma at all times. This list is endless and I can go into a serious debate on the effect of various yogas on A7 & UL. Try to attend the Relationship Workshop in the West coast. Based on the above, let's consider two situations: 1. Lets say a man (prior to his actual known marriage) gets involved with a woman with no "intention" to marry. So here is a case where this is not his first UL. Definitely. From where will the UL come when there was no intention to give in the first place. In this case, is there any difference between the man and a dog? The harsh answer is "NO". So, how can we say that the UL was activated. Even if the relationship was for a year, now-a-days it is difficult to say that there is any intention of marriage with all kinds f things like live-in relationships. The laws of the nations are becoming more and more difficult and do not encourage marriage and its continuity. Instead these laws are made with the sole objective of delivering justice with an eye on the short term justice based on observed stress and harassment in a relationship and not based on the long term impact or the real justice that the little children deserve. What happens if there are two or more planets in the UL? Will you treat this as marriage to two people at the same time? The concept is a bit difficult. Forget it for the moment, you are right in your estimate. 2. Lets say a man (prior to his actual known marriage) gets involved with a woman with an "intention" to marry. So this becomes his first UL. What happens if the intention is not reciprocated and what do you define as 'involvement'? Is this physical or at a different level? In both cases above, "intention" is involved. Now "intention" stems from Mana (Mind) and the karaka is Moon. No intention is to be seen from Lagna. Mana is the mind at a particular moment. When a man shouts and his wife and tells her to get lost, his intention may not be so although the mana at that moment indicates so. What shall we do with Mana, let us know the intention (Buddhi). Is there any connection between Moon and UL? In the determination of the first UL, would not the Moon , its placement, aspects etc help? In both cases, will not Moon reveal the "intention"? No Now since marriage is dharma, will Sun also reveal any pointers to the situations above? The focus here is bringing out the "intention" from a chart. Sun is never malefic for the Upapäda, be it the first second or more i.e. so long as it is going to be an Upapäda. In fact the Sun indicates big people with many wives, many Upapäda's. When I was at Guindy engineering, the joke was that every MLC must have two wives at least to get into the assembly in Tamil Nadu!!! These Upapäda's can exist simultaneously. Even Dasaratha, the father of Bhagavan Sri Räma had four wives. So, this is never a bad thing so long as the relationship can be clean and the native is strong in Dharma. However, this cannot be applied to Kali Yuga where the wish of Bhagavan Rama - one husband one wife theory, shall prevail. The Sun indicates the dharma and if the Sun is eclipsed by the aspect of Rahu or weakened by the conjunction of Venus its debilitator, then during such periods, whenever the Sun is aspected or conjoined Rahu, the native breaks the vows of marriage or celibacy. Such a break causes his fall in dharma and consequential suffering. Thus, the sun cannot show the intention and this has to be seen from the Lagna and fourth house. Please guide. Sincerely R.
