Dear Learned

Sarbani,

Very nice of you to answer it with so much of depth. The concepts

become so clearer.

If, I can venture to ask something a bit complicated for me, they say

one has to take UL as a serious relationship lasting one year and

then count the number of relationships with the next UL being shifted

to the 8th from the present one.

color:navy;mso-color-alt:windowtext">

mso-fareast-font-family:"Courier New";color:navy">Sarbani: UL represents

spouse. In the modern context, however, people may have had serious

relationships with commitments, which may not have materialized into a marriage

in the legal sense because of extraneous factors. Such committed relationships,

with marriage in mind, and which have lasted at least for a year, are to

be considered as Upapadas. Otherwise, please consider them as Darapadas.

Darapadas will include flings, brief affairs, casual dating, one-night stands, affairs

which are purely motivated by a sexual attraction etc. Those who have had

multiple Upapadas, whether in terms of relationships or marriages, will have to

count that many Upapadas. For example, if your UL is in Cancer, then the 2nd

UL representing the 2nd spouse/relationship will be the 8th

from the first one. In this case it will be Aquarius. The third spouse/relationship

will be the 8th sign from Aquarius, that is Virgo. And so on.

"Courier New"">Sarbani: What is Samdhi Lagna? The lagna of the spouse/fiancé? If

so, they will fast on the day of their UL according to their chart.

3. On another thought, since Navamsa refers to inherent strengths and

also the spouse, would it be more advisable to fast on the UL lords

day of the D9 chart. This is in case of girl/boy wanting marriage.

"Courier New";color:navy;mso-color-alt:windowtext">

"Courier New"">

mso-fareast-font-family:"Courier New"">Sarbani: No, fasting is always done on

the UL of the rashi chart. Its true that Navamsa represents your spouse, but the

fasting has to be done for your own karma, your own betterment…in all aspects

of your life…it is a deed that you have to perform. Don’t entangle it with the

karma of your spouse. For his karma , he will have to fast on his UL day as per

his rashi chart.

queries, I hope Guru Sanjay answers on those few remaining questions

Dear Sarbani,

Thank you once again for replying.

My confusion on Nav UL fasting was as, D9 represents one's inherent

strength, so I was under the thought that UL fasting of that might

bring in more deeper/inner results. Thanks for removing that non-

productive thought.

Samdhi Lagna, maybe I misspelled it, well how can I say, Border

Lagna, when the lagna degrees are just on the border or the sign has

just changed. Some say that for correct analysis one should consider

both lagna and try analysing the chart, so I was thinking then in

that case the UL would change and one might have two ULs, so what

should one do then.

I read Guru Sanjay's article on marriage and since this topic is in

one way related to it so I might venture into another query.

"Bhagwan Vishnu sits in the ninth house of Dharma and worshipping him

with the Astakshari mantra "OM NAMO NARAYANAYA" or meditating with

the mantra " OM TAT SAT" is the best remedy."

So can anyone married or unmarried recite this mantra for good

marriage life, does the Pronunciation have to be perfect, is it one

of those mantras as PVRs mail said self correcting mantra in terms of

Pronunciation, I mean after many repititions one would get it correct

surely.

Thanks Mr. Shailesh for the other mail.

mso-fareast-font-family:"Courier New"">Sarbani: Parasara speaks about Lagna Gandanta.

There are three types of Gandantas, Tithi, Nakshatra and Lagna Gandanta. Lagna

Gandanta occurs between the junction points of Pisces-Aries, Cancer-Leo and

Scorpio-Sagittarius. The ending half ghati of the first sign and the beginning

half ghati of the second sign comprise the gandanta zone. Apart from this you

have rashi sandhis and bhava sandhis, which are junction points between two

signs and two houses respectively. All three types of junctions, that is

gandantas, rashi sandhis and bhava sandhis, give differing results. I have

never heard of two ULs being seen for Lagna Gandanta natives. I have Lagna

Gandanta myself, and no one has ever told me to see two ULs. Neither have I

heard my jyotish guru speak about it. The only time you have two ULs is when

your 12th house is Scorpio or Aquarius. Since these two signs have

dual lordships, there are two ULs.

mso-fareast-font-family:"Courier New"">Sarbani: I think you should ask this

question to Sanjayji directly, because this is stepping in a different direction.

I think we should always strive to perfect our pronunciations. Being a Bengali

I have atrocious Sanskrit pronunciation which will not be perfected even in the

next three births, but that does not mean I do not try. The main thing is

bhakti. If you have bhakti in your heart and sincerely seek God, he will surely

listen to you. So whatever mantra you recite, ensure that it is chanted with pure

devotion and simultaneously try to perfect your pronunciation.

Dear Sarbani,

Was reading yr post and got a doubt.

vedic astrology, "Sarbani Sarkar"

Aquarius.

My understanding was that for Sc/Aq we will take the stronger of the

two lords and then find the UL. Although I have Saggi asc and have

both Ke and Ma in the 11th and so the UL is 10th, but was wondering

if they were placed in different houses then shud I have considered 2

ULs?

Best Regards,

Shiv
