Hi,

I think both are measurment of strength for the planet

for different purpose.

As per saraveli beneific retros are good while malific

retors are bad.But generally reto planet has high

chesta bala and may also shows delays in frutification

of the planet.

While directional planet like mars/sun in 10th house

are good as they will take the native in the direction

shown by the planet.

om namah Shivaya

dear group

retrogression shows desires. deep desires. wondered why rahu and ketu

are always retrograde. rahu is the reason for rebirth. in addition to

rahu, if there are retrograde planets in your charts, then connected

to those planetary functions and placements, you have unfullfilled

desires from past life.

every planet gets directional strength in particular houses, for

example sun in 10th, moon in 4th. wondered why, it has to with their

karakatwa. sun likes to rule, moon likes to nurture, etc.

Dear Shri Partha and Parag,

Thanks for your comments on retrogression of planets. By directional

strength in the houses, do you mean digbala? Since Sun and Mars are

the King & commander, they would manifest their nature best in the

10th house while the Moon and Venus, being the Queen and Prime

minister manifest themselves best in the 4th house. Jupiter, being

the learned Guru and advisor to the King, manifests himself best in

the lagna. What I cant understand is how Saturn gets directional

strength in the 7th house! Can you please comment on this?

Could retrograde motion also be seen as swimming against the current?

In such a situation, the planet has to expend more energy in

achieving the fruitification of past desires or the effect of the

house it resides in and this naturally leads to some delay? Or is it

a link to past work and continuing in this life?

I have a friend who has retrograde Ju in the 6th house of Pisces

(Meena). His undergraduate education in engineering at one of Indias

top institutions, graduate education abroad, job abroad, elder

brothers marriage etc have all come during the Mahadasha of Ju! I

also expect him to get married during this period. While I accept

that there may be other factors to be considered, broadly speaking,

is it reasonable to expect that Ju in the 6th and own house confers

the abovementioned blessings unless it happens to be retrograde and

influencing the 5th house of Aquarius? Let me know your views.

with due respect to all,

Hari

[Parag] My logic says saturn gets directional

strength (or digbala) in 7th house as 7th house

opposes to lagan which is ruled by jupiter. And

Shanideva is that of opposite to everything what

DevaGuru is stand for. Also see,in 7th house that mean

saturn will be at west horizion again opposite to east

direction from where Sun rises.

[parag]This opens another old question as does

retrogated planet works from previous house and I

recollect that Sanjayji has opposed this idea on this

forum.

Wow! Yours truly (me) has Ju in the lagna and Sa® in the 7th house!

Can you imagine the clashes that would be taking place? I think its a

good thing that Sa is in the 7th else I might have become too fat! :-)

As things stand, I have a little excess fat in the tummy region while

being tall and lean elsewhere! :-) Gotta do some more exercise!!

Your logic looks good to me. Lets see what other members comment.

Hari

Hi, sorry to interrupt here, but notice that saturn is exalted in the libra

which is the 7th sign in zodiac - natural 7th house.
