I have found one of the best ways to test and ultimately, Verify

all the Jyotish rules and principles ...

is check them out in the Transits....

You can literally feel for example, when the Moon & Saturn are colliding in

the same House...

In fact, it is...the Moon that acts as a good 'receiver', bringing us

the qualities of the Signs through which it move and also

the qualities of the Planets as it collides very regularly each month....

Probably the most important qualities I've learned by watching all these

Transits, a chart for each day for over 16 years....

Is that Every Planet is 'inherently'....good....

And though this may be confusing, especially when we're not even

considering...what 'Houses'...each Planet rules....

but my Intuition told me that how can any of 'Life's Planets be bad....

Aren't they all just trying to express back to us, the consequences of our actions?

And isn't that an ultimately, good thing...?

So we can grow....

And then I came across Maharishi Parashar, thought to be the 'father' of Jyotish,

who says in his famous Volume on Hora Jyotish:

"In the very beginning Lord Vishnu entered into all the grahas,

to give back to his devotees, the consequences of their karmas...."

When I read this I realized, none of the Planets can be 'really' bad.

Though they may be acting as Functional Malefics....

and Jyotish explains fairly well, how the Rising Signs, express

which Planets will have the 'tendency' to portray, 'malefic' effects.

But, you also have to look at what Signs the Planets are in.

Because, sometimes, especially when a so-called malefic Planet like

Mars or Saturn are in Signs of their Own, or Signs of Exaltation...

they really express an extremely.... 'Benefic'...Status...

Then, and here's the most important thing....

Each Planet is not just indicative or our 'punishment' karmas..

but also represents something we've come to work on!!!!

This means, it may be true, that Mars is acting as a 'malefic'...

IE..Mars in the first, giving us irritableness, too quick actions,

often leading to accidents and little mishaps, and all the time,

that 'extra' fieryness or 'pitta'..is effecting directly the 7th house..

and the list goes on and on....

But, we need to ask ourselves.... Why is Mars there?

Is there any goodness to it?

Are we just supposed to experience the punishment quality,

from it?

Or is there any 'redemption' value, or transformative quality that

really is the Lord's....ultimate purpose in reflecting back, for us...

our consequences of our actions?

All we need to do is make an experiment...

If we were talking about having High Blood Pressure, because Mars

is acting 'maleficly', in the First House, of the Body....

But, our Doctor only knows for, Healing...

So, he says, do this and that..

and lo and behold!

the High Blood Pressure goes away!

Why?

Because we learned to 'balance' our pitta, our imbalanced fieryness

or our Mars!

Like that, we could think of every Malefic situation, not as a punishment,

alone, but as an opportunity for grownth!

and change!

Because if we make the changes......

Learn to go more slowly....

and Learn to not be so quick to judge, to fly off at the handle...

Not only does our life smooth-out and improve,

we're also... Changeing....and

yes!, transforming our Charts!

Our Charts are meant to be changed!

To be improved....!

As Life itself is!

Our charts are not just symbolic of our 'fates'....

but also of our Solutions!

Our growth....

And progress in Life!

balanced and therefore, 'Benefic'...in our Life!

[vedic astrology] Why is // Jupiter capable of destroying the house it

and Saturn Protects//

Mon, Aug 25, 2003, 9:42 AM

Dear Chandrashekar ji and learned members.

I have seen from the archives ,where you had participated in

discussions, that Jupiter has the capacity to destroy the bhava in

which

it is placed and Saturn Protects.

Here I have some queries.

What is the reason for a benevolent planet like jupiter to try and

harm

or destroy.

Also i have read that saturn can be good in bad houses (6,8,12 etc) -

because ,saturn by nature is bad and hence bad and bad

(negative, negative results in positive) should bring good. But if

saturn

can protect all the houses where it is placed ,then the above

statement

loses ist significance.Pls correct if my understanding of this

'negative-negative' is wrong.

When i try to understand the nature of jupiter - I feel it can test

the

individual always on the path of life, which can be painfull and hard

as

well at times. Why is this? Is it because such an individual can

combat

the tests and hardships,as jupiter gives him lots of patience and

other

mental strengths or more concern for others? Am i right?

But why is it trying to destroy?

Also doesn't other considerations like strength, position etc come

into

play while deciding on this?

If you can explain the inherent nature of Jupiter, by virtue of

which

it

is trying to behave like this, it would be helpful.

Moreover i can give input on my real experiences (good and bad) about

jupiter placed in ascendant.

Thanks a lot

Pradeep
