Guest guest
Dear Guru Swee, 1. I recently heard about stones being Irradiated, can you pls expand on this since I know you might be having huge knowledge on this. Does this process effect the qualities, I mean does it effect the healing/fortune quality of the stone. 2. Are uncut stones better than cut stones for effect, I read some article where it said in earlier times people were advised uncut stones. My personal experience with uncut Neelam (Blue Sapphire ) has been good and bad so unable to judge, maybe the 70 carat was too much and also maybe since there was a slight chip off. Still would like to know your experienced thoughts on this. Thanks in advance Best Sunil Sunil John Mumbai
Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Sunil, Irradiated stones: How would one react to irradiation? Heat treatment: According to Garuda Purana, the person who asks his worker or another to heat treat gets the sins. By heating, the gemstone become dead and unable to give their effulgence. Rough stones: Unless extracted from a pegmatite in its perfect crystal shape, do not attempt to wear one that is found from gravel or alluvial soil (most of them naturally etched with acids of sorts) . Their outer appearance will not have the shining effect a faceted material would. This is why it is only in the diamond section; extracts are mostly from "pipe-like" pockets. I do have a collection of some in various natural shapes. The cuboid is most favoured in its perfect shape and clarity (described as Vajra-the thunderbolt). However, in modern times just remember the 4 "C's". But I do suggest you look up the archives for more details.
