Guest guest
Namaste friends, There were a lot of mails on the list recently that had no matter but just attachments. These are all computer virus generated mails that are infected with a virus that affected many computers in the world. Luckily, archives does not store these attachments. Those who are reading the mails on the website (in the archives) are safe. But, those who get the mails delivered to their mailboxes are vulnerable. Please make sure that you do not open an attachment unless you are sure that it is a genuine attachment and the author personally told you so or made it unambiguously clear in the mail. Especially, if an attachment has a .PIF extension, it is extremely likely to be a virus. Do NOT open it. Extensions like PIF, BAT, EXE, COM, SCR etc are executable on your machine and can infect it when executed. So do NOT open them. As a temporary measure, I am banning the following email addresses as they generated many virus mails (possibly for no fault of the email address holder): upadhyay_iitd hiren17071977 (AT) (DOT) co.invissurya I can re-admit them when the spate of emails subsides. BTW, I look forward to seeing some of you at the SJC East Coast conference in Edison, New Jersey next weekend!
