Here is an answer to this interesting puzzle, from a student.

 

1/ Astrological reasons for excessive fat

 

Eating habits are indicated by 3rd house from AS. For both natives,

the lord of 3rd is in a dusthana and conjunct with Gulika.

 

Jupiter is karaka for fat. In both charts, Jupiter is afflicted. In

the wife's chart, it is debilitated in Capricornus. In the husband's

chart, retrograde Jupiter is aspected by Mars. In both charts,

Jupiter is in 8th from Saturn. Saturn is lord of 6th for wife, and

lord of 8th for husband.

 

The husband may have hormonal problems as Ketu, lord of 6th and

Saturn lord of 8th make a Paapa Kartari yoga on the AS. There is also

Bandana Yoga on the AS, and the same is fully aspected by Badhakesh

Jupiter. However, the Parivartana between Mars in AS and Mercury,

lord of AS could indicate a successful treatment, probably surgical,

as Visti said.

 

The wife has 3 retrograde and 4 debilitated planets in rasi. This is

certainly not fortunate. Retrograde Mercury, lord of AS, is badly

afflicted by being conjunct to debilitated Sun and aspected by

retrograde Mars, lord of 8th. This means health problems. Venus, lord

of 2nd, conjunct Rahu may give compulsive eating. Jupiter is argala

to this conjunction. But, since 3 out of 4 of the debilitated planets

in rasi become strong in navamsa, I think she will get better.

 

2/ Deprivation of sexual pleasures

 

The sexual compatibility between the husband's star, Aaresha, and the

wife's star, Poorvaabhaadra, is rather low.

 

The extent of the problem is larger in the husband's chart, due to

Mars and Venus is AS being afflicted by bad yogas and by strong

badhakesh. Lord of 3rd (copulation) is Sun in 12th (marana sthana)

and afflicted by Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. These malefics also aspect A3

(the sexual act).

 

The wife does not seem to have any great problem. The lord of 3rd in

8th shows that her sexual instinct is well controlled.

 

3/ Lack of progeny and the future

 

Jupiter in 5th in the wife's chart is bad for progeny as karaka bhava

nasa. However, Jupiter being in debilitation, children are not

denied. The delay in having children is explained by the absence of

sexual relations, as the dispositor of Jupiter, retrograde Saturn, is

conjunct to Ketu, karaka for sex. Saturn could mean deprivation, but

as it is retrograde, it may just indicate delays. Rahu and Venus

aspecting Saturn mean she wants very much to have children. The

husband is perhaps not so keen, as he was born in Aaresha nakshatra.

 

Is there sterility ? No, childbirth is delayed due to husband, but

not denied (COVA, p. 174).

 

4/ Educational achievements

 

In the husband's chart, the lord of 4th is in 11th and it is exalted

in D-24. Good formal education. AL and A5 are is 9th, and the lord of

9th, the Sun, is in 12th, conjunct with Saturn. He may have studied

philosophy. In D-24, lord of As is in 5th, lord of 5th is exalted in

8th. I think this means knowledge of traditional and occult subjects.

But the Sun is debilitated in 9th in D-24 and it is in marana sthana

in rasi. Perhaps he interrupted his higher education.

 

In the wife's nativity, the rasi chart is not very auspicious for

education, but the D-24 chart is rather good. I suppose she got a

good basic education but did not go on to higher studies. The lord of

9th in rasi is very afflicted and, in D-24, it is placed in 12th and

its dispositor is debilitated.

 

4/ Financial status

 

For the husband, Jupiter as the 2nd lord from AL is in 11th from AL,

retrograde, and in own sign. I think his financial status is good. He

may run a family business as the Moon, lord of 2nd from AS, is in

own sign in 2nd. He may have some problems due du delays in payments.

In D-10, AS is strong with 3 planets including exalted Mercury. The

Sun is in 2nd from AS : good assets. His professional and financial

status is good. But there are fluctuations in earnings due to

debilitated Moon, lord of 11th from AL.

 

Wrt the wife, I think she does not have an independent profession.

Sun and Jupiter are weak in shadbala and ishta phala. Mercury, lord

of 10th in rasi, is placed in 12th in D-10. However, she may help her

husband.
