Amarnath,

Thank you so, this was so beautiful that I shared this

with the forum at babaji.net.

I did not post your name, though. I will if you want

me to.

silence, in secret thou art the source and goal of all

creation

from your stillness flows all goodness ~ love,

compassion,

selflessness, humility

like a thief the ego takes credit for love,

compassion,

selflessness, humility

and proclaims religion, charity, brotherhood, world

peace movement

silence, in your simple humility you offer no protest

silence, please forgive this ego which dares to speak

on your behalf

silence, please take me into your bosom

please take me deep into your nothingness

please free me from this painful confusion

of words

mother of silence, my first info was

that you do not speak, just hug

that those hugged go deep into silence or cry for

hours

and so it was somewhat

my first hug in 1995 in NJ

my first sight of you touching hands as you walked in,

sat down

a short meditation led by swamiji

then five hours straight of hugs without a lecture

swamis singing was the background

i thought perhaps it was the music drawing the mind

inward

and then you were gone

what a strange sight to the western mind addicted to

words, concepts

and propaganda

your silence and a faint memory of your name "Amma"

stayed

it was a mixed feeling to find out that you do speak

ten volumes of "awaken children" and many other books

and say that silence indeed is the goal

that thoughts and ego in the head indeed obstacles

that the external amma with body who speaks

is just to lead us to the inner amma without body who

does not speak

but abides in our hearts as silence, stillness,

nothingness

externally enchanting are your smile and hugs

but your real work remains invisible

our attachments to your words are hit or miss

sometimes inspiring, guiding

sometimes food for our clever egos

o mother of silence, why do you risk speech?

to tell us that the mind is a big lie?

that the mad world is just a projection of that lie?

that no-mind is the goal?

achieved when the ego is no-more?

whatever beauty, love, peace, compassion in the world

is it not stolen from momets of  silence?

from the unnoticeable spaces between thoughts?

is it not truly sad that we acknowledge thoughts as

beautiful

prayers, poems, bhajans, art, knowledge, scriptures

and ignore the silence from which they arise?

is it not truly sad that we seek facts in words

instead of the

ultimate truth of silence?

o mother of silence, free me from these burdensome

words commune

with no-me in silence

your loving son,

amarnath

There is only one way to prove the existence of Truth. Sit still and be
