Dear Hari,

The setting of a planet means nearness to Surya and Udaya means farer away from

Surya.as we know Surya is emerging a lot of heat to this universe,so all

planets will set ( Astangata ) and Rise ( Udaya ) when they are near to Surya

during their transit.Astangata means nearness to Surya and Asta or set means

transiting far away from Surya.As Per Surya Siddhanta,Guru will set at 11 /8

degrees,Shani at 15,Kuja at 17 ,Shukra at10/ 8 degrees and Budha at 14/12

degrees to Surya.The rising degrees are Shukra at10/ 8 degrees,Guru 11/8 ,Shani

and Kuja at 10 degrees and Budha at 12 or 14 degrees depending on direct or

retrograde motion.
