Guest guest
Namaste to all........... A student has asked me the following question and I too would like clarity on the points raised. Subhargala is benefic intervention and papargala is malefic intervention...I understand that. But is the nature of the intervention determined by the "natural" nature of the planet or the "functional" nature of the planet in any given chart? Also, does argala have relevance (with respect to the planetary personifications) to the natural karakas of the planet involved, the functional karaka of the planet involved, or the chara karaka of the planet involved? And lastly, for house karakas, are these referenced by the natural karaka for any given house, or the particular functional karaka for the house in question? How do we determine the nature of the intervention with respect to natural versus functional planetary states? For example, Venus is a natural benefic. But for a Pisces rising, Venus is a functional malefic. So does argala intervention by Venus in a Pisces rising chart cause subhargala or papargala? And say that Venus is PK (charakaraka) for children in this chart, but natural karaka for spouse, which personification effects are relevant with respect to argala? And lastly, because Venus is the 8th lord in this chart, are the argala interventions relevant to (1) longevity and/or troubles (functional); (2) spouse (fixed); or (3) children (PK - chara karaka)? Thanking all who take the time to answer. Phyllis

A student has asked me the following question and I too would like clarity on the points raised. Subhargala is benefic intervention and papargala is malefic intervention...I understand that. But is the nature of the intervention determined by the "natural" nature of the planet or the "functional" nature of the planet in any given chart? [Rath:] Natural nature of the planet. Also, does argala have relevance (with respect to the planetary personifications) to the natural karakas of the planet involved, the functional karaka of the planet involved, or the chara karaka of the planet involved? [Rath:] All three. Natural nature has the highest relevance as all beings are part of Narayana and Narayana can over-ride the strength of the chara Atmakaraka. What is functional karaka? And lastly, for house karakas, are these referenced by the natural karaka for any given house, or the particular functional karaka for the house in question? How do we determine the nature of the intervention with respect to natural versus functional planetary states?[Rath:] You missed cara karaka in this question..west coast. I have not heard of functional karaka. There are three types - natural, fixed and temporal. For example, Venus is a natural benefic. But for a Pisces rising, Venus is a functional malefic. So does argala intervention by Venus in a Pisces rising chart cause subhargala or papargala? [Rath:] It is subha-argala. Unless we start believing that spouse is malefic! Basically it shows the intervention of women. Parasara and the saints always felt that women were benefics and men were malefics !!! See Venus and Moon are natural benefics, except when the mother gets old (ksheena chandra) and then the effects can be quite malefic. Men are the terrible affliction of Mars or Rahu or Sun. A miniscule portion of them are from Jupiter. [Rath:] If say we are seeing the wealth in the chart and use Jupite as the NATURAL dhanakaraka then Venus argala is to be considered as natural signification of wife, spouse, women, daughter, etc. If on the other hand we are seeing wealth from the CARA DARAKARAKA, then the cara karakatva of Venus has to be considered. Use one system through out. Thanking all who take the time to answer. PhyllisArchives: vedic astrologyGroup info: vedic astrology/info.htmlTo UNSUBSCRIBE: Blank mail to vedic astrology-.......
