This is a free Vedic Astrology download that is wonderful if you're learning

This was written by PVR Narasimha Rao, and it's a typical state-of-the-art

download. It downloads to a zip file, so you unzip it, and then you run

setup.exe, and it puts an icon on your desktop. (I always drag icons that I

use onto the toolbar, and clear them from my desktop, which I design as sacred

space).

 

Narasimha Rao is a bona fide Guru, because he's doing what Gurus do; he's making

sacred knowledge available free of charge. He's also associated with the Vedic

Astrology group that I also belong to, at:

This is a huge group, and in general it goes by too fast for me, and the people

that use it tend to be way into the nitty-gritty details of Vedic. I'm just

not there yet. I can do some shockingly accurate predictions from a few

absolutely powerful primary perceptions, and what I tend to lack is all the

words that are usually associated with that kind of ability. So I've decided

to learn the words, and the system of words and techniques that I prefer is

most definitely the Vedic system.

 

Anyway, what's great about JHL is that it is EXACTLY the first thing I would

write if I were able to write a Vedic Astrology or Jyotish program. This thing

literally opens to a picture of the heavens at the moment you open it with the

icon on your desktop or toolbar. It's the only thing I've ever seen that

realistically depicts the behavior of the rising degree. You can close it

after ten minutes of studying it, and open it again, and it gives you another

rising degree. (One caveat: besides the information you give it in the setup

routine, you have to be sure that the time clock in your computer is accurate.

that's in the BIOS chip, and you change it in the setup menu that becomes

available in the bootup routine.)

 

For example, in the current case, did you have that SINKING feeling AGAIN this

afternoon? Perhaps you were responding to moon fallen in sidereal Scorpio,

conjunct Ketu. But while I've been writing this post on my Wordpad, the rising

degree is transited the moon's future position when it will be full this month

(on Sun 7-13-03, at 1921 GMT), so there's been a little window of clarity

through all this obsessive and depressed energy. There could also be some

Martian abusiveness in the home tonight, since Mars is fourth from the Moon at

the moment. It's also third from the ascendant for the next two hours, which

can create the sibling rivalry which gets the Mars stuff started - altogether,

probably a good evening on which to crawl under the flat rocks which nice

people always prepare for such occasions.

 

In short, JHL is a real WYSIWYG program, and I'm definitely going to obsess on

it for a while, because I'm sure it's my quickest path of learning.
