Om Namah Shivaya

Dear list,

In continuation of the previous post , i would like to add a few more

points.

Usually we call this world a Maya, an illusion etc. Swami vivekananda

has very clearly stated that The people who dismiss this world as

Maya and an illusion are making a big mistake.

He adds that The Maya is only a state of things. It is the reality

that is different from The TRUTH.

Despite loosing in many grand slam finals, why do people like Goran

Ivanisevic, or jana Novotna keep on trying for that elusive Trophy.

Why is it that people cry when the near ones leave us and go. Why is

it that we think that the ones that are related by blood are closer

than the ones who are not.

There can never be absolute good, or absolute bad in this world.

There are no absolutes in this world. The ones that try to get rid of

the good, are countered by more good born somewhere else. The ones

that get rid of evil, are countered by More evil.

Vivekananda adds that we can never stop the evil to grow, neither the

evil ever stop the good. They have to mutually co-exist. And this is

Maya. This is not illusion. It is a state of things as created by The

lord Himself.,

The lord wants us to follow the rules of The Maya which is a system.

Every system has its own rules and regulations. Every one has to

follow the rules and play accordingly. Krishna in Bhagvat Gita says

that you do your work, but at the same time remember him and remember

him till the last breath. Because this Maya is based on sensory

perceptions that are fleeting in nature. They are not everlasting.

One happiness is followed by another sadness, and so forth. They keep

on repeating and sooner we get out of this trap the better. For this

yoga and meditation is required. Why is breath control advised in

meditation, why is it that serene and quite places are required for

the yogic practices. Because then we are not bound by sensory

perceptions that can bind us to this Maya.

But one must remember that God is not impersonal. God is personal,

and is very much loving and caring and compassionate. We all exhibit

the same in varying degrees, because we are a part of HIM.

Coming to astrology, This Maya can be well explained by the Arudhas,

or the "REalities" of this world. These are not the realities of the

vaikuntha, But the realities of This loka,. Human birth is hard to

attain, and once we attain it, we should try our best to make

ourselves detatched and contended. This is the only path to Mukti.

Dear Partha

Good article. You said that Swamiji had said "Maya is the reality

that is different from The TRUTH. According to what I know swamiji

once said "Maya is simply a statement of facts as they exist". or put

other way "Maya is a statement of the fact of this universe, of how

it is going on." In the light of above statements I am not getting

your The TRUTH concept. What is The TRUTH in capitals? Is it Atma,

Brhama,Both or None?

>From your article it seems that the system of MAya is a system of

maintaining equilibrium in its own way. In that case we do not have

much control over this system. Do animal beings have same system? or

it is applicable to Human beings only? I ask this because you said

this system is created by Lord Himself. And HE being impartial, this

system should be same for all living being.

Later you added that this Maya is based on sensory perceptions that

are fleeting in nature. This makes the Maya to be individual.

In short we can makeout these things as

1) There is normal system of Nature(Lord) that is going on.

2) We as human beings are part of that system.

3) Instead of following the rules of Nature's system we try to create

our own system and hence get into the trap of Maya.

4)More we are close to nature, less will be the Maya.

5) That is why meditation should be done in the serene and quite

places. That is by going near to the nature.

6)Since animals are close to nature they will have less maya.Put

other way, Animals will be less aware of the Maya.

7) In the process of evolution Man lost many qualities of animals and

that made him to go away from the Nature and hence Maya got created.

8) In that case man himself is responsible for the Maya around.

9) Maya will exist till the end of universe for man.

10) This system of equilibium is applicable on Macro level rather

than micro level.

Thanks for your Time and Space.

Hare Rama Krishna

Dear Partha Garu,

Thanks you for the good posts on the Arudha Topic. I had read that

post before but failed to catch the essence but on thinking further

and also applying some principles that are enunciated in the Srimad

Bhagavat Gita, I am getting the picture. As Sri Narasimha pointed out

the Arudha is the only reality that manifests in the world. This is

what we see and dismissing it, as an illusion does not sound right.

However, illusion does exist in seeking happiness or feeling distress

from these things. Thus everything is real but the illusion is in

seeking happiness or feeling distress from events that are of a dual

nature. Happiness can only be had by engaging these senses in the

service of the Lord, so when He directs us to always think of Him, we

are in fact engaging our senses in His service or working for Him and

such actions will not have reactions as they are transcendental and

enacted on the spiritual plane.

In my own case, a good example took place a few years back. Right

after my MBA I was selected by one of the elite consulting firms in

New York and everyone around me including family were of the opinion

that I was truly fortunate. However, in reality I was not very happy

as I was working brutal hours and there was always a sense of

anxiety. At one stage I got into loggerheads with my boss and started

looking for other opportunities and finally landed a position in a

very small firm in New Jersey. This was in stark difference to the

high flying job that I had and the world thought that I was mad to

quit such a position and join a small firm.

Now if we examine these events astrologically, heres what I found. My

D-10 lagna is Dhanush and AL is Pisces. The first job was obtained in

Rahu/Venus/Saturn. Now Rahu and Venus are placed in the 5th from AL

in Cancer and Saturn is placed in the third from AL in Taurus. So

naturally, there was an increase in status in the eyes of the world.

However, Rahu/Venus are in the 8th from Lagna and I was not happy.

Saturn was in the 6th from Lagna and I was not happy. So, my

happiness is seen from Lagna while the world's opinion is seen from

AL. The second job was obtained in Rahu/Sun. Now, Sun is placed in

the 12th to AL but he is the 9th lord from Lagna. Therefore, the 12th

from AL bought status of my new position down in the eyes of the

world but since he is the 9th lord from Lagna, I was happy. I worked

fewer hours and the travel to work was minimal.

Both my feelings as well as what the world thought it should feel

like in either job were illusory. In reality, if I was truly working

in God consciousness, I should have been indifferent to the distress

in the first job or the happiness in the second. In both cases,

perception was through defective senses (mine as well as the world)

and naturally, the duality of happiness and distress was seen. So I

was wrong and the world was wrong too. That was the illusion. So

viewing events from Lagna is definitely the truth as far as my true

feelings are concerned and AL is certainly a step away but both cases

are illusory in the true sense. Maybe the Lagna as the satya peeta

attains greater relevance as we get into higher harmonics or Vargas.

Its like in the first cycle it's covered by smoke and the smoke

dissipates as we examine higher harmonics.

These are just some thoughts from a novice so please take it as such.
