My understanding of Kala Sarpa yoga is as follows: "Kala-Sarpa Yoga is said to materialise when all the planets in our solar system (including the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn are on the either side of the two nodes Rahu and Ketu in one's chart. Rahu and Ketu are not actual planets. They are the nodes. It is observed that these nodes are more powerful than actual planet while offering results. Thus all planets being placed on any one side of the node has its own significance in astrology. As nodes Rahu an Keu are always separated by a distance of 180° or 6 signs. Hence you find that these nodes always occupy opposite signs in one's horoscope" My wife is passing through some troubles on account of her health. She feels that someone (Friends) has done black magic. The problem started when Jupiter moved to Cancer. It became more intense when Saturn moved to JAMINI (March 2003). I feel the problem is due to Jupiter's transit in 4th house. Jupiter was under check till March 2003 due to aspect of Saturn from Taurus. I feel that problem would get resolved once Jupiter transit in Leo from July 30, 2003. She consulted a profession astrologer recently and he suggested that Kala Sarp yoga is present in her and my son's horoscopes and attributed the problem to the yoga. I did talk to the astrologer and presented my analysis indicating that Yoga is defunct due to Mars presence in both horoscopes, which the astrologer could not answer convincingly. He suggested a few remedies such as Kala-Sarp Puja etc. These remedies are being conducted as per his suggestions. Somebody is making a lot of money fooling around people! Anyway, regarding black magic, sometime back (about 2 months) I saw a discussion focusing on planetary combinations that would cause jataka to be affected by black magic. Unfortunately, I cannot offer any further help since I am very new to Jyotish. I hope other Gurujis on the list would comment. Jai Sri Ram! Namaste. Jupiter (Ta-2deg49min) is placed with Rahu (Ta - 23deg39min) thus Jupiter is within the circuit. In My son's horoscope Jupiter, Mercury and Mars are out of Circuit though Sun and Mercury are placed with ketu in capricorn. Most of the definition that I have come accross, indicate that even one planet is outside of the circuit of nodes, the yoga is defunct except at one place. L. R. Chaudhary has written more on this yoga and say's that this yoga is defunct only when more that one planet is outside of the circuit of nodes. The partial Sarpa yoga is considered if only one planet is outside of the circuit and such planet is called 'SAVIOR'. This planet comes to natives rescue when required.
