Guest guest
Hi, There's been one long-standing nag in the mind. Why is it that everyone (nearly) on this group regards Ketu to be the tail? Rahu I know is only the head, which should logically make Ketu the body -- but why just tail? To explain this, either (a) everything in the body other than the head is to be regarded the tail, or (b) the original demon was a creature that had just a head with a tail attached to it. Knowing mythology and anatomy, I know that either option doesn't stand up to much scrutiny. I'm sure some guru here will help out with this one. Warm regards, Ramapriya hubli
Guest guest
Hi Dear, Your qurey seems realy interesting, where the middle part of the body of demon gone away? I dont know the myth behind it except; Rahu is said to be born of Viprachitti and Sinhika, having four arms and his torso ends in a serpent's tail. The masking ability enabled him to mingled amongst gods and drank a few drops of nectar, and as a result he became immortal. Vishnu cut off his head and two of his arms. But as he had secured immortality, his body was placed in the stellar sphere, the upper part of body called Rahu and lower part called Ketu. Since the head is the focal point of the upper part of the body of the Nag and tail is assumed powerful part of the lower side. Thus they called dragon head and dragon tail. You can even observe in any sort of snake (or reptile, scorpio) that their real strength and power store either in head or tail... In chart, there is lot of mystery and latent power behind these head and tail, the fulcarum of karma. Guest guest
Dear Ramapriya, Your contention is correct. Ketu is headless body in vedic Jyotish. The confusion arises as people bring in western astrology where the nodes are called Dragon's head and Dragon's tail.
