Om Namah Shivaya

Dear Dhira Krsna Dasaji,

I could understand the sex of the children from your Saptamsa

explanation. However, I need your help in understanding as how

you calculate the number of children by the number of Navamsas

gained by the 5th lord. Can you please explain me with more

examples.

In Ramesh Gangaramaniji's chart, I could not understand as how

you got Sun & Ketu malefics while counting from Lagna to Jupiter.

I suppose you meant Navamsa lagna, Libra. Is the counting here

zodic ?.

Thanks so much,

With best wishes,

Palanivelu

Dear Palanivelu,

Hare Krsna!

The Navamsa method is as follows: say Jupiter is 5th lord in a chart and

has 6 degrees 53 and is in Sagittarius in Navamsa. Since it has traversed

2 Navamsa signs fully, the native can have 2 children. Now if the chart

indicates the possible loss of children, and if say Libra in Navamsa has a

natural malefic, e.g. Sun in it, than the native will have one child and

one will be lost. The surviving child will be a male because Mars is the

lord of Scorpio.

>In Ramesh Gangaramaniji's chart, I could not understand as how

There is another method for counting the number of children. Since in this

chart of Ramesh Jupiter has gained no Navamsas but has Jupiter in

vargottama, so this indicates a bigger number of children, we count from

natal lagna, here Leo, to the position of Jupiter in Navamsa. Thus we have

5 signs, and 2 of them have natural malefics, namely Sun and Ketu. Thus

Ramesh had 3 children and 2 lost. The sex of the children is Sun - male,

Venus- female and Jupiter - male, but here Jupiter is debilitated, so that

may have been the cause of the last girl. This method however will not

show the order of sexes. And yes, it always goes zodiacal.

Then in Saptamsa, the mistake I made in determining the last child's sex

must be due to the fact that Saturn conjoins Venus, thus giving a female.

I had thought, Saturn is exalted, thus giving male, but because Venus is

Saturn's exaltation lord, it probably gave a female.

Dhira Krsna dasa,
