Dear Mr. Rath and Mr. Rao,

Its a great surprise that my posts are accepted on the vedic astrology list.

I will avoid as much as possible controversy as I am now aware of the

tolerence level of the members of this list, both senior and junior, and the

related psychological issues.

But I have a question to you (no dersion intended, please)- I find lot of

westrn astrologers taking cognizance of vedic astrology but I dont find

people from Vedic Astrology taking paying attention to what others have to

say ( though in Pune where I live vedic astrologers have changed a lot, in

fact beyond my expectations). Are you personally aware of NCGR, Alfred

Witte, Reinhold Ebertin and Micheal Gauquellin and their work? There is a

need to assess their work in Indian cultural context. I find lot of their

ideas are culturally invariant and therefore more valuable.

Dear Rajeev,

That's not exactly true. Of course some will argue that Vedic astrology has

a greater depth but I am not going into those relative statements as they

mean nothing for a person who is seeking knowledge.

If you have followed my writings and the Jhora software, you will find the

progression system incorporated therein. The progression system which

everyone was calling bogus simply because it is western astrology is also

clearly mentioned in Vedic astrology. These are Manu's progressions of

trimsamsa (10) dvadasamsa (2 1/2 0) and so on but based on the sidereal

zodiac. I have shown in the last West coast conference how to use this and

correctly and 'very simply' determine the years of marriage, children etc.

The temperament we adopt is defined in Saravali by Kalyana Verma 'the

yavanas have a lot of information and we need to carefully examine them and

accept that which is suitable and acceptable'. In fact what is popularly

called Tajaka Varshaphala is actually western astrology annual horoscopes

which has been forgotten by western astrology but which has survived in

western India since the time of Neelakantha.

So, we study what is there, see whether it meets our needs and requirements

and then take what we like and which is supportive of the basic model in

which we work. If I already have a nice car why would I buy another which

although very nice is not necessary. That is the attitude.

Secondly you wwill never hear any criticism of any system from me - ever. I

cannot speak ill of any body of knowledge as for me, this is an anga (body)

of Satguru.

With best wishes & regards,

Yours truly,

Sanjay Rath
