Guest guest
Namaste friends, The latest version of the free software "Jagannatha Hora Lite" (version 5.0) can be downloaded from http://www.VedicAstrologer.org/jhl5 now. Another link http://www.SriJagannath.org/jhl5/index.htm will work soon. If it does not work, try the former link. This version offers a much better GUI (you can see a screenshot at the above address), more stable behavior and more accurate calculations than the previous public release JHoraLite 3.1. It contains some new calculations such as Sree lagna, vighati lagna, Narayana dasa (of rasi chart), Shoola dasa (of lagna), Jagannatha hora chart (taking the number of hora chart options to three), lunar new year chart (amanta calendar), annual Full Moon chart (suklanta calendar), swearing-in chart mode where dasas are compressed to the period of time specified by the user (e.g. 4 years or 3 months) and daily panchanga including the end times of tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana and 24 horas and the times of Rahu kaalam, Gulika kaalam, Yama gandam, sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moonset. It has a slightly bigger atlas too. If you are a user of JHoraLite 3.1, I strongly recommend upgrading to this version. There are two versions of JHoraLite 5.0 available for downloading. One is 1.7 MB in size and has minimal online help. The other is 2.4 MB in size and has detailed online help, including several Vedic astrology lessons extracted from my textbook "Vedic Astrology: An Integrated Approach". But the functionality is the same in both and the size of online help is the only difference. The features disabled in this Lite version will be available in the commercial version (Jagannatha Hora 5.0) that will be released in the forenoon of May 8, 2003. May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha PS: Both the zip files have been tested. If you have errors in unzipping, your download was erroneous. The only way to fix it is to keep trying. If you have download problems, try downloading the smaller version with minimal help.

Second, as I'm sure others will point out some deficiencies, I will point out one immediate minor glitch. When you print, the general info prints into and below the charts. Could be my system though. Just something to tweek perhaps before a commercial version is finalized.

Is this disabled in this version or is it my downloading? Also I am not able to cast Tithi Pravesha chart... Pleas clarify. Both the files jhl5.zip and jhl5s.zip on the two download sites given (http://www.VedicAstrologer.org/jhl5 and http://www.SriJagannath.org/jhl5 have been downloaded and tested by me and others. There is absolutely no problem with those files. The problem is with your download. I can empathize with your disappointment, but there is really nothing I can do. I can guarantee you that everything I can do has been done. I can suggest 4 things to those who are in India and have a flaky connection to the internet: (1) Try downloading some software that helps in downloading zip files. It makes the the downloads robust. I don't remember the details and perhaps somebody else can help you. (2) Try the second link, as it is a little faster. (3) Download the 1.7 MB version with minimal help (jhl5s.zip) instead of the 2.4 MB version with detailed help (jhl5.zip). (4) Get help from Shailesh Chadha ji and see if he may be willing to burn it in a CD and send it to you for a small fee. He is already including it in Achyuta Jyotish workshop CD, but that costs Rs.500 (I think). I don't if he can burn just JHoraLite 5.0 in a CD and send it for a much smaller nominal price. Please contact him. If you have a good internet connection that remains stable during the entire download, there should not be any problem. Guest guest
Dear Narasimha Jee, Greetings! I was really very surprised to use the new version! It really does not look like a free software. You surely deserve our heartiest thanks and regards for making such a software free. I can imagine how hard work, intellect and determination it took to build up a software like this with so many features. From my part, there can be no doubt that it is the best of all free jyotish software I used till today. It would be pretty hard to believe that a jyotish software like this can be totally free. The GUI has improved a lot and the features are just wonderful. The Jyotish teaching of the help system is also simply wonderful and very informative. Thanks for creating such a program and making it free. Regards,Tanvir "What can not happen, can never happen.Which is mine, is forever mine." Guest guest
SARVAM GYANANANDAMAYAM JAGAT AUM GURUBYO NAMAH Dear Narasimha, GREAT. Your heart is as big/expansive as Guru/Jupiter. MAY THE ALMIGHTY BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WITH ALL PROSPERITY,HEALTH , SUCCESS AND MORE KNOWLEDGE". i want to tell a small incident that happened in the life of Sri Adisankara. One day as ordained Sankara was standing in front of a house expressing "bhavathi bikshaam dehi". The lady of that house did not have anything to offer because of extreme poverty. In fact for their lunch she had a collected a small amla(small fruit) which she had to share with her husband. Now when she found out a young sadhu seeking biksha in her door step she could not control her emotions. She became emotional not because she was personally being ill treated by her destiny but because she was being forced to such levels of poverty which did not allow her to give/treat the athithi in a respectable manner. The lady did not pray to Goddess Lakshmi to grant her wealth but she only wanted the Mother to help her give something to the Athithi. She placed the one and only amla(fruit) which she collected for their lunch atop a leaf and with utmost respect gave it to Sankara. Sankara understood the plight of the lady and sang Kanakadara stotra which produced a shower of golden amlas at once. The lady gave what she had. Sankara blessed the family with a shower of gold. When so many seekers are knocking at your door step it seems to me that you were praying Mother Lakshmi to help in meeting the demand for knowledge and with a heart as big as that of the lady mentioned above you were kind enough to give whatever you had collected. May all the seekers join me in echoing the voice of Sankara and in one chorus sing Kanakadara so that Mother may once again be kind enough to repeat the act/shower. "ANGAM HARE: PULAGABHOOSHANA MASRYANTHI BRINGANGANEVA MUKULABHARANAM THAMALAM ANGHEEKRUTHAKILA VIBHOOTHI RABHANGALEELA MAANGALYATHAASTHU MAMA MANGALA DEVATHAYA:" .................BHAGHAVATHI HARIVALLABHE MANOGNE TRIBHUVANA BHOOTHIKARI PRASEETHA MAHYAM". Thanks for all those reading this and for joining me in singing Kanakadara Stotram. Happily/happy to be yours, psramanrayanan Tried Feng Shui yet? Learn the yin &; yan. Make it work for you! Guest guest
Dear Sri Guruji Narasimha, No words to describe your benevolent not for profit work on Vedic Astrology. I am not one of the very learned in Vedic sciences and Sanskrit. So could not appreciate and thank you for your deed with a shloka to bless you. But my heart (and that of thousands of other enthusiast Vedic astrology students) prays to Ishwar to bestow his blessings on you. Namaste. Guest guest
Dear Narasimha, I do agree with all of us that have downloaded the new Jhoralite version5. Your tremendous and precious time spent for the programme will be well worthed. I have another problem with the program. When I try to open Nehru's chart from birth data bank, the time zone changed automatically to 0H, West of Gmt. How to correct that? Thanks again, Harit ============================== vedic astrology, "rageshwari75" <rageshwari75> wrote: > Dear Sri Guruji Narasimha, > > No words to describe your benevolent not for profit work on Vedic > Astrology. > > I am not one of the very learned in Vedic sciences and Sanskrit.
