Guest guest
Dear Sanjay, I know you didn't want me to reply but I can't stop myself. There was just one simple, however wrong, reason for me to spend days and nights painfully typing out Bhavartha Ratnakara and Brihat Jataka. I wanted to help those who wanted to get hold of these texts but simply couldn't, for reasons other than monetary. Did you even for a moment think I did this to deprive Raman's heirs of their share of the money of the sales from the book?? I already have these books; I didn't need to digitalize them at all. Most of those in India who asked for these have stated that they own a hardcopy anyway, but just preferred a digital version. The real thanks came from places like Brazil, Russia and Pak where these books are just not available. It's to those astro-loving people that my plagiarization was intended. Mind you, if either Niranjan Babu or even Gayatri sue me, I wouldn't even contest. Did I tell anyone here that I did what I did to hurt their coffers? I've myself written a book too (for whatever it's worth), and I certainly would be saddened if someone stole it without permission. You've done your job, because the giant in me has awoken. This is a good, though hurtful, lesson handed out by my own guru (who better?), and I don't think a "shameless" and "blatant" plagiarizer should hang around longer. Just before going -- I've not typed out even one word of any of neither your books nor PVR's. I rest my case. Nice time all, Ramapriya hubli (AT) vsnl (DOT) com - Sanjay Rath vedic astrology Wednesday, March 19, 2003 9:59 AM Re: [vedic astrology] Ishta Devata Om Gurave NamahDear Sadashiva, Please acknowledge the source in the publication of the material, whether in web or print. That will suffice for me. The same should be on the body of the matter. I have seen people blatently and shamelessly plagiarising and distributing copies of the writings of Dr Raman and know that this would have started behind my back regarding my books as well. In fact the recent distribution of Santanam's books in the internet and the use of this Vedic astrology list for such purpose has saddened me so much that I have stopped writing the translation of Saravali inspite of finishing two chapters. I hope these people (not you Sadashiva) realise that we astrologers do not have the resources to enforce copyrights and normally keep quiet leaving it to destiny and the wheel of karma. Although I think neither Niranjan Babu (Dr Ramans heir) nor the times of Astrology (Santanam's heir) are aware of this and if they do get to know, I think they will at best shed a tear..what else can they do. And think of Santanam...a whole life spent on this Jyotish, translating books for the welfare of the community and people, and the only gift/property that he had for his children was these books...every father wishes to leave something for his children. What else can a poor astrologer give to his children? I have nothing else to write on this subject, and please do not bother to reply. Sadashiv, this is not meant for you, but your name is so beautiful that it made the Jupiter in me to stand up for what I felt was right. This has nothing to do with you..and others alo, please do not reply. I have not taken any names. If I have woken the sleeping Giant inside you, then my work is done.
