Guest guest
Dear list members, I've observed that the various books, even the standards ones, can't really predict about a horoscope. What they give is very limited. They only focus on the aspect, the position of planet in a certain house or sign, various combinations, etc. How can one say that a certain thing will "DEFINITELY" or almost definitely happen? I give you my example. DOB: 14/06/1984. TOB: 06:22 AM. POB: Islamabad, Pakistan. I've a very weak lord of ascendant, combust in 12th house. My lord of 5th is also there. Sun and Venus, which is the lord of 12th, because I am a geminian, are also in 12th. This clearly indicates that I'll have to suffer much in life. Physical health, mental health can all suffer. On the other hand, I have Jupiter and Moon in Sagittarius in 7th forming Gaja Kesari Yoga. As they say, all the malefic impacts are gone because of this yoga. But does this strength of 10th lord give anything else than offering mere recovery from the weak lord of ascendant? Then come the two great malefics: Saturn and Mars both posited in 5th, one exalted and the other in its fall. If I go on and read books, maybe I'll come up with a couple of raja yogas but I also have a very weak lord of ascendant and 5th. Book can't tell you anything further from it. A great expert is always required to analyze the chart "as a whole". A strong 10th lord won't give good effects unless the lord of ascendant is strong. A strong 9th lord, won't give effects if its dispositor is weak. What's the use of full moon in Jupiter's house, when the lord of ascendant is so weak. On the positive side, the lord of ascendant is with its dispositor and great friend venus. I've asked so many people about this. I've tried to get those raja yogas which take effect even without aspecting lord of ascendant. I don't know if there are any such yogas. I also don't know what are the major factors that can nullify a raja yoga. One thing I am sure of is that Weakness of lord of ascendant is one factor. I don't know how do the experts predict. They surely possess some kind of 'extra' sense which tells them what will happen to a certain native. Can anyone please tell me, how to analyze complicated charts? If you take my horoscope, my 10th lord is strong, but my lord of ascendant weak, does it mean I'll have a poor career and I won't have any kind of fame and recognition ever? One thing that also is painful for me is that no one can be prescribed as an "authoritative" reference. One person will say that if a planet is at the last degree of a sign then it is still considered in that sign, another will say it will have 50%effect on the next and 50% in the sign it is posited. One will say that this planet has 'virtually' left this sign, so it should be considered in the next sign. I don't know which one is correct? Combustion is another issue. I must say that astrology is a controversial subject. Chinese, Greek, Indians, Westerns, all have come with a different system and make no mistake that modern astrologers are coming with different ideas almost all the time. As a beginner, I can only be sit amazed and confused on what astrology really is. Sometimes, I want to run away from it because unlike science, astrology is based on the 'supposed' fact that planets have some effect on human life. No matter how much my mind tells me that astrology isn't based on logic, in the end I just can't resist it. It is so seductive! >From a confused man, Farrukh
Guest guest
Dear Farrukhnauman, Astrology is totally blissfull and as effective as the medical science. If you went to all the wrong doctors and did not find a cure for your illness its not the medical science to blame, may be the choice of doctor.Someone told my father years ago that I will start the best time of my life in the year 2000,it would take to positions that very few reach and will be the happiest time of my life.Infact it started one of the worst times of my life.Who is at fault here astrology or the astrologer who ignored the fact that Jupiter is in retrogation and is my Atma karak even if it is in lagna the results cannot be as predicted.Firstly, are you sure about your time of birth?Have you ever rectified your birth time. This can be crucial in timing events.... >Dear list members, >I've observed that the various books, even the standards ones, can't >really predict about a horoscope. Guest guest
Dear Farrukh, Astrology texts that we have available today were written hundreds and even thousands of years after the science was born.Ancient sages passed the knowledge by word of mouth and their pupils recited them and learnt them by heart. This knowledge was passed from Guru to deserving student for generations before it came to be in print. Many errors might have crept in the original texts due to difference i pronounciation. Add to this the fact that the sages stated principles and enjoined the astrologers to use their Viveka(nearest I can translate is sense of proportion and ability to decifer) for predictions. We tend to go wrong when we do not corelate different statements made at different places in texts. An example would be planets being weak at beginning or end of a rasi. having said that when the sages said Mercury is strong throughout a rasi, they expected one to understand that this is an exception to the rule already stated.Or take age of planets , here again they thought that astrologers would be able to decifer what is meant by Mars being Kumar and Saturn being Vriddha.Unfortunately now a days astrologers tend to take all statements as inviolate irrespective to reference in which they were made by the sages.I have also seen one sage being said to be the ultimate to the detriments of others. The sages themselves however had not only given their opinion but freely gave principles and opinions held by other sages or contemporaries even when they were at divergence to those propounded by temselves. This should give us a clear indication that this being an interpretative science, it is better if we attempt to rationalise two apparently divergent statements(samanjassya) by the same authority or different authorities if we want to unravel this divne science. As a matter of fact this is how various scriptures and other divine texts are meant to be understood, to my kowledge. You to will be able to decifer the science if you first tr to understand the underlying principles and then attempt prediction. Always get back to the jataka and find out whether your predictions went right or wrong. Either way this would enable you to understad this science better. I hope this helps you in some small measure. Chandrashekhar. - farrukhnauman vedic astrology Tuesday, March 18, 2003 11:44 PM [vedic astrology] Astrology: Who are you? Guest guest
Hare Krishna- Dear Farrukh, Many people get into astrology to learn more about their own charts- You can read alot of books- but the main thing is you need a guru or teacher and some sort of sadhana or mantras to open up your own intuition and self realizations (if you want to call it that)to really see clearly and understand. Please go to the SJC web site and read more. There are many things to consider when interpreting a horoscope, that is where a good astrologer is able to take all things into consideration. First thing of importance is the Lagna and the LL(lagna lord) Then see influences on them from other planets, take RASI drishti into consideration,(DONT forget argala!too) - if you want to read about argalas, rashi drishti, arudhas, please see the "files" section of and in addtion please read the articles on argala from SJC web site srijagganath.org and also check on Sanjays web site srath.com you can also check for articles.. An excellent book! with all concepts for new comers is "Vedic Astrology -An intergrated approach" by Narasimha Rao- the list moderator- for usa orders you can contact me or check SJC web site for other places it is availble I highly recommend it. in additon to the above Ok,to make it easier,Rotate your chart so Lagna lord is in asecendent see what planets are in trines to that. Do the same from Sun and Moon positions(as viewed from in lagna). After doing that you should have a pretty good idea what is happening with you. If you know about Arudhas then also view the whole chart from the AL. That also will provide you with insight, If you can try again I, and others will correct you, Best Wishes, Lakshmi vedic astrology, "farrukhnauman" <farrukhnauman> wrote: > Dear list members, > I've observed that the various books, even the standards ones, can't > really predict about a horoscope. Guest guest
Well, thanks for your reply people. Probably you didn't understand my question. Astrology is a not everyone's job. You can put the same horoscope in front of 10 astrologers and most probably they all will come with different readings. Only an in-depth, impartial, to-the-point, prediction can work. This kind of reading can only be done by an experienced as well as gifted astrologer. All I can say is that anyone who sticks to the book knowledge, who just doesn't come out of age old concepts, its very hard for such a person to give a good prediction. Regards, Farrukh
